Curious though as to why the changes from a ported EP500 to a sealed sub.?

I remember a while back someone explaining ported and sealed subs and why the EP500 through testing and blind auditions why it was ported. Now, it is sealed ?

Just realized, maybe it is still ported .... we have not seen all the pics just the fronts. Maybe they are now ported on the rear or bottoms

Not that I doubt you, they do indeed look like they are sealed. But I'm wondering how someone with one post (welcome to the forum, by the way) has this information.

I was told by Debbie that the only difference between the V3 and V4 is, ported will now be sealed and the cabinet shape.

Cool, direct info.

Now you have four posts. Keep this up, and you'll be a "shareholder in the making" in no time. smile

Interesting. Given that it is now sealed, the driver must be substantially redesigned. If it is still a 12" driver then I suspect the cabinet will be smaller as well.

Getting the same performance as the old EP500 with a 12" driver sealed would be an impressive feat!

If it sounds as good as the sealed EP400, it'll be a real winner...

I was told by JC the woofers were redesigned (voice coil, more movement from the cone and amplification, etc.)

The power amplifier in my EP500 v2 failed a couple of months ago, so rather than replacing the amplifier, the nice folks at Axiom let me trade up to an EP500 v4. If you're like me and primarily listen to music, you will be enthralled by the EP500 v4, the bass response is deep, tight and well articulated. It's the most satisfying subwoofer for music that I've listened to. For home theatre, however, it initially sounded a bit anemic to my ears compared to my old ported EP500, that guy could really shake the woodwork. The nice thing is no trace of the chuffiness that I sometimes heard from my old EP500 when playing movie LFE.

Glad to see that you are liking it.

Recently moved from an EP350 v3 to an EP500 v4 and I am very pleased with the results. For me it was a good upgrade. Anyone with an older EP350 or under, I would highly recommend that you went through the trade-up procedure.
