Nick, you should really talk to JP cuz you have way too many gripes. He can recommend a good cocktail i'm sure.
Gotta get that heart rate down a bit and divest yourself from life's little irks.
Life is too short for such undue self-imposed stress.

That being said, i'm going over to Mark's bday thread to rant. What fun is it to keep gripes all bottled up in one thread???

When I go to a brick and mortar store to shop for a tech item, invariably they will have product with no sticker on it. I believe they do this so the sales associate has to be summoned. This really pisses me off, the first thing I do when I go in is brush off the salesman so I can browse in peace.

Rant over

Oddball gripe of the day. It is 76F outside and my wife has the fireplace and blower running and is sitting 2 feet in front of it. It is her birthday, so I am just letting it happen... for now.

It is unfortunate that the honest responsible people are often negatively affected by the actions and attitudes of those that are "less" so. I experienced this at a large company I worked for. When one employee caused trouble (cheated, lied, stole, abused the rules, acted as if "entitled", etc, etc.), rather than dealing with THAT persons transgressions, they would enact some new "company policy" that affected everybody.
Stick to your high ethical standards, don't be dragged down to the lowest common denominator.

And that defines why we have so many damn lawyers in modern society. Our exponential growth of laws is long from over.

I have a gripe. A sum-what childish one. Nobody cares at AVS so I'll cry and get over it here...maybe.
Why is it so tough to allow games to be saved to the PS4 so you don't need to change the disc?
I don't want to be forced to purchase digital downloads, but its the only way to have instant access, no kids fumbling with games, etc. etc.

There, done.

Your wife would be miserable at my house. The furnace hasn't been on for 6 weeks. Little cool in the AM but generally bearable.

Gripe: Why do builders do dumb things when building houses? House is 16 years old and the plumbing under the kitchen sink was a mess. I was trying to replace my garbage disposal, but upon removing it, the hidden plumbing was just flat wrong. Drains running uphill, etc.

So I replaced all of the drain plumbing for the regular sink drain, the dishwasher drain, and of course the disposal drain. Now things flow as they should, and things aren't all twisted together... literally. Best part, is no leaks, but a 30 minute job turned into several hours plus the drive to/from the hardware store. At least the parts were cheap at about $8 total.

Anyway, despite my gripes here, lets use this as therapy... Vent and get the dumb things out there, and then we can enjoy the good stuff of life. smile

I want to know why the electrical code still allows for a hot wire (black) to be connected to a light socket, and have the switch close the circuit (black & white)? Rather than have the hot wire must go the the switch, and have the light socket close the circuit? That way when the light switch is off, there is no power going to the light socket and you can't electrocute yourself.

My whole basement was done wrong.. well it doesn't even meet code as they used black and white wires rather than back and red it indicate they both can be hot. Lucky for me I turned off the power and checked the junction box before assuming it was done correctly.

Doesn't any contractor take pride in their work and do it right the first time.
