Well, now that everything is finally here, hooked up and calibrated I guess it's time that we all actually sat down and watched a movie here. It's been a crazy week.

I've had the M60s, Vp150 and QS8s for over a week now, but the SVS PB2-isd just came in last Thursday to finish things off. I can't help the huge grin every time I fire these puppies up. They just keep sounding better every day. I'm just using my old Tannoy 631SEs for the rear channels at the moment, but wouldn't it look much better with a pair of M3s back there? I won't mention that to my girlfriend though, not yet anyway. I hadn't planned on wiring up for 7.1 but it really does make a big difference, with a smoother and more expansive rear soundstage.

The system is running off a Denon 3805 receiver (awesome) and a Denon DVD-1600. Now the sound finally matches up to the picture quality. I'm running the sub +2 dB hot and usually watch about -10 dB from reference. It was freaking hilarious when I fired up Darla this morning with my girlfriend and kid upstairs, they thought the house was coming down around them.

Well time to go fire up another movie and see if I can get Kansas to issue an earthquake warning.

Dave

Dave - that's just perfect! That SVS really brings it, huh? The room and equipment look terrific for enjoying yourself. The only thing left now is an MX-700 to replace all of those remotes .

killer man, looks awesome. need some longer cables though, i can see them stretching in the back there..

i see you are an 'alien' fan.. great movie..i remember going to see that as a kid in the theater, and i got soooo scared, i left and walked home.. way to much suspense for a young, impressionable mind..

i swear, i cant wait to see the 'darla' scene in FULL EFFECT.. i have heard more comments on that one scene than any other.. by god, i am gonna peel off some drywall when i get my stuff hooked up..

There is plenty of cable in the back, but I just have it loose around the skirting boards so all the extra is behind the couch where noone can see it.

When I played Darla, man everything in my house rattled - air conditioning ducts, glasses in the cupboards upstairs, I mean everything. I have to put little bumpers on the backs off the picture frames so they don't rattle against the walls.

what kind of stand is that for the VP150? I have been wondering where to get one of those that's under 150$

Nice system. What finish did you get the Axioms in? That finish might match our room.

The stand is one of a real cheap ass pair (<$50) from Best Buy or similar. I gave the other one to my boss to use for his center (pucker up). They are only wood and aren't spiked but will do until I can get a better one at some point in the future. I use different sized rubber feet that came with the sub and other speakers to adjust the angle.

The Axioms are all finished in Boston Cherry - just the standard finish. The other half didn't actually care what color we got, in fact she was voting for black. To me black would just make them look like every other average retail store speaker out there. I was torn between the cherry and the beech, but the cherry went with our expensive antique Walmart bookcases.
