Hello all,

Got the M3s I ordered at work today... Took it out right away at work and felt the heft. I looked the speakers over (my first Axioms) and amazed at the quality of the product. I just got home unfortunately after a busy day so for now I got them connected to the sub/amp of my Cambridge SoundWorks 4.1 computer sound system (It is 11pm already and blasting my receiver/speaker combo is not a good idea). It is amazing how efficient these speakers are, even the speakers that came with the system can't pump out this much sound with so little input! The sound overall is balanced but I do notice them being a bit bright (before break-in of course, so I am going to wait to pass judgment). I love these speakers regardless, and my thoughts (forgive me) of returning these have vanished... Although they will not go into my home theatre setup, I will definitely use them in my bedroom for casual listening pleasure... Love these speakers!

man, i miss my M3's. I have thought of purchasing another pair, used. They sound great on their own. I like how they sound better than M22's on their own because they aren't as forward. Nice laid back for easy listening.

Goes to show you how much peoples ears, gear, and room effect what people think about a speaker.

One thinks the M3ti is bright, the other describes the same speaker as laid back.

as the wife adds more furniture to the family room, the 60's sound smoother and smoother. certainly not as crisp as 6 months ago. either that or i'm gradually losing my hearing from playing them so loudly.

That's why speaker judgment, other than measurable statistics, is so subjective. Hearing response curves, not to mention personal tastes, differ, person to person.

I listened to them some more this morning, since I am able to turn up the sound more. I live in a single story house, about 1650 sqft, and the M3s' sound filled the entire house without effort playing stereo Jazz music. I love how the instruments sound like they are right in my face, without being too much. Trebles are nice and crispy and the mids are warm. and since I have these hooked up to a small computer speaker sub, the lows are quite pleasing as well. These are beating out my older Yamaha floor standing speakers right now... Can't believe it, and I can't wait until I can pair it up with my future Denon 3805 A/V Receiver...

As stunned as you are by the quality sound coming from your M3ti's compared to your previous speakers, you'll be equally as wowed by what a real subwoofer can do for you. Check out the Hsu STF-1...it may be perfect for you in a small apartment.

I have no doubt as to the outcome, I am certain I will love it. I will actually be moving to a new home soon that will have a pre-built dedicated home theatre (19x14x9 - LxWxH) and I am actually considering a SVS PCi powered sub for the room. I currently have a friend that has the largest SVS PCi sub in his setup, and it more than outperforms the size of his room and I enjoy the quality of the SVS very much. I admit I have not heard the HSU line of subs, but for my budget, I'll be going with SVS.

Choosing between Hsu and SVS is a win-win decision -- either way you end up with a great sub.

Thanks pmbuko, that is exactly what I perceived from reading other posts on this forum. I will try to find a HSU to listen to, but so far I have not seen any around here in the Inland Empire, souther CA.
