Here's an endorsement of front corners from SVS. (As well as 1/3 in on front wall and centered on opposing walls).

Also in the Q/A, an endorsement for corner absorption treatments in conjunction with front corner subs.

Also a suggestion to avoid sitting at the front-to-rear half room dimension null point for odd modes.

Other thoughts here.

And here's our own Alan at Audioholics from '04 ... a different time wink .

Front to back ideal seating distance locations for bass in a rectangular room are:

Length dimension x

0.2, 0.32, 0.45, 0.55, 0.68, 0.8

The worst is dead center. Rule of thumb, dont be dead center or smooshed against the back wall.

Brwsaw and Nick probably have the memorized too. Lol.

I have a whole "cheat sheet" of all of those critical numbers. LOL Compiled key numbers over the years so that I wouldn't have to remember them all. Now if I can just remember where I saved them. Maybe in my email....

I have almost got the ceiling inside my new room done. Spent a few hours threading Roxul sound batts between power cables and NG pipes to get it held up with reliant channel so I can install 5/8" drywall.

It's getting closer to seeing if all the effort pays off with a better sounding room.

Hah. That looks like my basement, only I'm not in the process of remodelling frown

In my rectangular room about 15 by 18 feet,
So far great success, My system 7.2 A 50 inch Samsung on stand also about 50 inch wide. With a VP160 on top shelf.
I put the unit in the middle of the long wall with 2 subs on either side {SVS PB1000 and a cheapo Vector Research 12 inch 150 Watt}. Had my M22 on top of them for the last year was fantastic, no way the bass came for any where but the speakers.

Now have moved up to M80s.
So I've kept everything in the same place and put the M80s on the outsides of the subs, as to give the M80s some space between them. My results are about the same, minus the difference of the new soundstage the M80s present, the subs blend great. Tried front corners and beside couch but made them stand out to much.

Cheers Brendan

Brendan, which version of M22s and M80s are you referring to in your post?

All version 4.
I started just M3, now my height channels, then M22 now rear channels, Vp160, and now M80.

If you find a decent spot, free of nulls and booms. I think any speakers will do well in those locations regardless of size.
