I own the EP500 V4, and the amp just turns off for no reason. I can simply let it sit with the gain turned all the way down, and it will eventually turn itself off. I am now certain after many days of testing it has something wrong with it.

Has anyone ever had to get something repaired? What is involved? I mean I cannot image trying to send the whole unit back, so do they have local dealers? Or can they send out the piece, and then have the end user swap it out.

An information of how this is done would sure be greatly appreciated.

They typically send out the piece. In the rare instance where they replace the whole sub, I believe they pay for the return shipping. I could be misremembering this.

That's great, Ken! I'm going to start using it right away. I misremembered the correct answer. I misremembered my wallet, officer. I will never again have to say I was wrong! How pissah!

Contact Axiom they make it as quick and simple as possible.
I had a bunk driver last year they replaced it right away.
Really easy.

Thank you all for the information. I was hoping to never have to test the support aspect, but stuff happens.

Assuming of course that by "turning off" you mean the sub is in use when it turns off regardless of gain setting. Then yes call Axiom.
Otherwise the subs do go into standby mode when not in use.

Wouldn't no gain on the sub also be the same as turning it off.
Sending it to standby after say 5 or 10 minutes the same as no signal.

For the list price at Axiom you'd think they would include the now standard auto on/ off feature. My SVS sub only powers up on signal and goes to standby after a time after no signal. No gain in your system should put your sub into standby mode according to what I've read but that that still doesn't adress Chesseroo's comment. Does it turn off with signal?

The 500 doesn't have auto on/off. It has a 12v trigger though.

From the EP-500 owner's manual ...

The subwoofer has an instantaneous standby mode that enables itself whenever there is no signal input from your A/V receiver or preamp. The Green LED POWER indicator does NOT change color when the subwoofer enters its idle mode, however power consumption is reduced to 10 watts or less. Leave the switch at the ON setting unless you go away for an extended period. Moving it to OFF will shut down all power to the subwoofer.
