As I sit here listening I realize I will probably never need to buy another CD, build a playlist Its a glad (not sad) truth. Spotify premium through my listening room setup is audibly indistinguishable from CD to my ears on its extreme setting.

I just picked up an Arcam rBlink. Best money spent. There are cheaper options. Life changing convenience at very high quality.

I will miss buying CDs. frown I was holding on, and picked up 19 used discs over Christmas. It's not the actual CD format I will miss. I will miss being elbow to elbow with other music fanatics flicking through the bins of random treasures. Getting anxious as I see someone with a bigger pile than mine, wondering if they beat me to a find in the other side of the room. Then realizing they are probably thinking the same, and smirking at my neurotic self.

Buying used will still be an occasional adventure for me. But buying new releases will probably cease now. It's a wierd feeling.

I saw use of Spotify at a recent hockey tournament. One of the dads had it on his iPad and ran sound through a [sigh] Bose bluetooth unit. After running and programming a few modern songs (pop hits) for the kids into a playlist for their hockey warmup, the next recommendations from Spotify included Rick Astley.
Umm, ok.
Needs a bit of work there Spotify.

I use Chomecast with Spotify. It's not as good as a CD but it's similarly good smile.

Spotify is a great service!

I'm loving it so far. Took advantage of the 3 months of premium for 99cents. It will be hard to cancel at this rate..... too good.

Is anyone out there taking advantage of bluetooth with atpX codec? Is it worthwhile to upgrade my source (ipad) to something that supports it down the road?

I love using Spotify to listen to albums I am curious about but too cheap to buy. The user created playlists are pretty good so far too. Hooked.

This is certainly a plus, but i would still rather purchase my music and digify it myself rather than pay a subscription for life to listen to it.
This facet is worth more to me than having the convenience of albums or artists i don't own.

With every generation of change we lose something and gain something.

I still miss album sleeves. I would never have started listening to the Grateful Dead were it not for the amazing cover art.

On the other hand, I absolutely love the level of quality a well mastered cd delivers.

Yeah, I hear you. One thing I have taken to using is Youtube for music. I search for an artist and full album, play it while I am writing documentation. As it is background noise, I miss any advertisements. When something catches my attention musically, I am inclined to purchase!
