Lets face it, they get faster and larger (capacity) every year and like lemmings we go out and buy new ones. I don't know what the real life expectancy is of them, so I ask.

What do you do with your collection of old USB flash drives?

I am sure that all my really small 125m ~ 1gb ones have long been thrown out. But I still have quite a few 4 and 8gb units.

Now they in a sense could be used. But when a new USB3 16gb drive costs less than $10, would a slow usb2 drive that has about enough space to hold a DVD really be worth having?

So you decide to toss them? Are there any places / people who might find them useful? Or just toss into the garbage (yet your supposed to recycle for ethical disposal for the chemicals inside).

Just wondering

We've used ours to make backups of our digital images.
2 back up copies.
This after our home PC died almost 2 years ago.
Thats about the time I started resisting digital downloads.

I still purchase physical copies for most games and movies.
