Rogue One was better than The Force Awakens. Had a private screening with a national space and defense company. Interesting to hear the chatter afterwards about the technologies!

I gotta say, it is simply another Star Wars theme - as my 13 year old said "just guys fighting with flashlights, family disappointing family and flying things shooting other flying things!

...they grow cynical (old?) too quickly!!

Sounds like someone needs to read Starship Troopers.

Back in the old days you couldn't fight with flashlights and you had to stand on the ground while the flying things tried to kill you.

That it wasn't CGI, the Battle Star really was blowed up?

Rogue One was fun. I'm curious where they are going to take the next movie.

I'm way behind on movie watching. Haven't fired up the projector in a month.

Finished "Life on Mars" via Netflix (American Version). Great show, fun to watch and try and figure out what's really happening, nice cars, acting, awesome soundtrack...alas, there were no zombies, psychopathic forensic investigators ect, so the series was cancelled after only one season. frown

We rented the latest Blu Ray 'Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Men Tell No Tales'.

Quite enjoyable; however, what stood out was the LFE throughout the entire movie. Powerful & unrelenting - it gave my twin EP-800s a good workout.

If you have have a decent sub or two, this one will rattle your house to its foundations. If your sub(s) are not of a decent quality, they might not do very well...

We were in BC a month ago and saw the Pirates at a theater and to be honest it was better here at home on my flatscreen. We went to some landmark cinema's and saw a few movies, Atomic blonde was one of them and it was too dam loud and the color and the screen were mediocre at best. I wish i had gone to the ATMOS movie but it was the Tower and i didnt think i would like it but now i regret not going. Next time i guess.

Anyone else here using MoviePass? I'm going to the theater a lot to get my money's worth. It's not quite what it is advertised, but it's still a great value. You should be able to use it at any theater that accepts debit, and the only restrictions are supposed to be no 3D, no IMAX. In reality, our best theater (which still isn't wonderful, but at least has two Premium Large Format screens with Dolby Atmos sound, as well as reserved seating and reclining seats) still doesn't show up in the app. According to the theater's Facebook page, they're supposed to be working with MoviePass to get it added, but so far it hasn't happened.

I know AMC doesn't want to honor MoviePass in the coming year, which would eliminate another theater. I'm not entirely sure why they would want to turn down the money. The theaters are getting the full ticket price. That part of it does make me doubt the longevity of MoviePass, but I'm going to use it while it lasts. People are guessing AMC will launch their own subscription service. I could see that being the future, with each theater chain coming out with their own. Not a future I want, but still cheaper than paying full ticket price if you go often.

My dad wanted to see Despicable Me 3, so that's what we used our passes for today. I was annoyed with the first one, never saw the second one, and I don't think I missed out. This one was a swing and a miss for me, too.

The only movie I've paid full price for since getting MoviePass is Blade Runner 2049, which I wanted to see at the premium theater. I can understand the criticisms I've seen, but I enjoyed it. It helps that I never really fell in love with the original. I was predisposed to liking this one because I've liked Denis Villeneuve's other work, especially Sicario. I like his visual style, and he really wants you to marinate in the atmosphere in this one. Which I liked, but I can see how it would turn people off. I thought the story could have done more to explore the ideas presented. However, it's one I think I'll have to watch a couple more times to try to figure out if there's more I'm just not getting.

Just to get more out of MoviePass, I went to see both Spider-Man: Homecoming and Wonder Woman a second time. I was surprised Wonder Woman was still being shown, since it's on disc. Spider-Man: Homecoming is, too, as of today, so that's what I'm going to try out on my home system after this post.

Oh, I lied. I did already pay full price (+ extra) for another movie. The Last Jedi, which I will also see at the premium theater (and maybe at the nice IMAX at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle if I can get there later). December 14th can't come soon enough.
