that pretty much says it all

Also since it is natural wood and not stained a lite sanding with 600 or even some 0 steel wool should do the trick if it bothers you. after that a coat or 2 of varathane.

According to Ian, all 800's have two 600 woofers in them. I got the new design I guess, and I am hoping the amp is the same story. Because at first glance it seems I got EP600 woofers, with a EP600 amp. And that's NOT what I ordered.

There's just unneeded confusion here. The website product page, and manuals etc all show different amps and woofers for the 800 then what I got.

The real question is, how does it sound. and honestly all the speakers share the same drivers other than speakers with single drivers which have a higher impedance. Once Tam comes on her can clarify what his dual 800's have. I know Axiom is not very good at keeping their images current.

And I agree 100% if I buy frootloops and cherrios come out of the box I am gonna be pissed.

I do pefer fruitloops.

But you are correct on all accounts. Web page not updated. They changed the plate on the ep800 amp because nobody liked the adapter in the xlr as it stuck out too far...and I agree. I rather it this way. I also rather the black vs the silver. I got a new amp, and the woofers are the newer design.

So, outside of the marks, I walked away with a great deal. Ian got my confusion sorted via email.

I know someone else bought the other one so they might appreciate the info as well.

As for how it sounds, it was in transit since Dec 23rd. It was a giant ice cube when I got it. I let it sit for most of the day before turning it on. I got about 20 mins with it and its certainly an upgrade over the 500.

It's a beast though. Delivery guy was SO happy I was home and my house was all ground level...aka no stairs. lol

Good to hear you got it all sorted, I totally understand your reaction cant say I would have felt any different. Tam has 2 of those monsters in what appears to be a fairly small room ,he must really love his bass. Glad I wasn't the guy delivering it, I imagine he had a few choice words getting it on the truck lol.

I'm just glad it got here safely. Something this big you just do not know. They packed it well, one of those new cool boxes....just REALLY big.

I'll say this, just spent the last hour or so going through various music, I'm quite happy with it. It's been a long journey but I think I may actually retire my old faithful D9's.

Yup, all this to replace Cerwin Vega D9's from the late 80's. Before Vega got bought out and went down the drain they made these monsters. Legendary D9's people call them. I've tried so many things over the years and just brought them all back because the D9's were just flat out better. Yes, even my M80's could not keep up at least not for the bar/party purpose.

It's a two channel system with a carver tfm pre/pro setup I've had since ...well....long ago. Party Speakers, bar speakers, HT they've done it all over the years. I remember I worked like two summers, 60+ hours a week to save up for the stuff. I was a DJ back then, but had another job during the summer months, but I got the D9's through people I knew via DJ'ing. The carvers were new and not cheap for a high school kid but I got em.

I knew I was running on borrowed time with the d9's. Already repaired one cone. And of course the woman hated them. Too big. I said do you know what its going to take to replace them and sound the same? She loved the sound, we both did. They did every type of music well. Well, what we listen to. Pop, rock, country. But its not a room we use a lot, so I didn't want to put too much $$$ into it. Refurb area to the rescue!

But our basement SUCKS for bass. Like miserable. I put the sub floor and built the basement in my last home and one HSU sub overpowered the house yet alone HT room. But this one, I don't know what they got done but it sucks up all the bass. Had to add another sub to theater, still not quite as good, no matter where I put it.

Had the same issue in the "Bar". Small room, 20x13, barely 8' ceilings. Vegas rocked the room. But an EP500, not a chance. The EP800....much better. The entire room is pine, bar is pine. Always wanted Pine Axioms but gave up waiting 2 years back and grabbed a mint set of M3's in Maple. Then before xmas low and behold...Pine M3's...ordered on the spot with an Ep500. My Vega replacement plan was always 4 mounted M3's, and one sub. So yeah, I got two maple and two Pine M3's, I'll fix that someday. But for now, room sounds great. Matter of fact, because the Sub crawl resulted in where the sub is....it is literally adjacent to the rear side of my theater so now its the bar sub, and its my theater rear sub....and holy @#$% what a difference that made.

Anyways, I pissed off the neighbors enough tonight. This post is also long enough.

Hmmmm, Ep800 + AxiomAir.....

My EP 800 V3s have silver plate amps with a 'EP800' logo on a separate sticker above it that is stuck to the Rosewood.

My woofers have no caps.

I do like bass but I'm not a fanatic & I don't over do it. It is the quality of the sound that I like over others subs that I've heard. Of course in my room, the 800s hardly ever break a sweat.

As for the marks on the cabinet, if the veneer isn't damaged, you might try one of those 'Magic Eraser' cleaning pads (made by Mr Clean I think). They work wonders in removing marks - but don't get carried away as eventually the finish might be affected...

Since we are on the subject smile I agree loud women are extra nasty. but I like a loud car for play time but not goin up and down my street, ski-doo's these days are horrible the sound carries for miles here grrr but I do like a nice pipe on a street bike expecially in a tunnel smile . But for bass it has to be tight and realistic. In my car I like it exaggerated a bit and it kicks me in the back, I just cant seem to get that in the house though I know it takes a lot of woofage to do that in a large room.
Glad you are enjoying your new toy.
