Ok narrowed down to three types.
Will be running either a Anthem MRX720 or 1120 and far end of this AVM60 of which I will use my current MCA50 for the ATMOS M2's

not quite sure but

Emotiva XPA GenX3 $1500 for the front three
Emotiva Two BasX 300 $1200 for the surrounds

Anthem MCA325 $2600 for the front three M22 and VP160
Anthem MCA50 $1200 used for the four surrounds OW M2's

Axiom ADA1250 3ch $2336
Axiom ADA1000 4ch $1360

Then Anthem and Axioms would be %15 more with tax added

If you go with the MRX720, then you are stuck in a sense using the existing amp to power your atmos speakers. The MCA50 is far overkill for that duty.

If you go with the MRX1120 then you atmos speakers are covered. If you ask me, the side and rear surrounds would also be more than covered with the amps that are built into the MRX1120. You likely would see only a small if any improvment on the fronts and center with an external amp over the one that comes with the 1120. There is enough of a step up with the power and amp setup in the 1120 over the 720 that I'd say it is worth it.

My recommendation to you would be to choose between the AV60 and MRX1120. I personally have the AV60 and it does rock. I had little choice as I have LFR speakers that require and external amp, and already had two smaller 2channel amps that would be perfect for Atmos .4 I figured that I might as well get a pre-amp rather than pay the extra for the 1120 and not use the built ins.

Now I know someone here has the 1120 and swears it sounds awsome.. Sadly i am very bad with names and after a few beers it just gets worse. I would not get the 720 as it's got lesser bits inside of it and seems a waste to get less and of the bits you are paying for, your not using.. ie the 720 is great for someone who just wants 7.1 and no intention of going for the extra .4

Oh. and I would also say that I have the ADA1000 for driving my LFR speakers and can't say that I ever felt that they were holding back in sound and wish that I had bought the ADA1250. i did think about it once when they had a big sale on the amps, but i quickly got over it when reason set in and I rememberd that amp power was not something that i felt i was ever lacking with the amp i had.

Yeh, that be NickBuol
I was hoping the amps in the 720 could be reassign from the surrounds to Atmos.
and yes agree the MCA50 be a bit much for Atmos.
I guess that leaves me to the AVM60 and or the MRX1120.
I already own the MCA50
I could just use that for the Surrounds and get the MCA30 or the new MCA325 for my fronts. The other option is the Emotiva XPA3 ch for the fronts and save another $1000

Have you considered the Emotiva XMC-1 , that's what I am using and it is fantastic and the Dirac is amazing. The Atmos upgrade should be out soon as well as the HDMI 2.0 board. Its on sale now for 1649 and then you could get it updated later on. The upgrade board is 349 for hdmi and 499 for atmos. Don't get the one for 1999 since is only has 4k 2.0

No. The 720 you cannot re-direct the amps to other purposes. The other part that isn't there is a much larger Toroidal transformer like you have inside the MCA50.

I use to own an MCA5ii that is the predecessor to your MCA50. It sounded great but in the period that I was trying to get something sounding right, I sold it before I got the AVR60, so I cannot say how it sounded with that setup.

I have not auditioned any of the Emotiva receiver/pre-amps so I can't advise on how they sound. I will say that the Anthem was a complete eye opener or ear opener in the sound department. it brought my LFR's to life and made them sing like there was no tomorrow.

Just because you have the MCA50, does not make it set in stone. Take a look at Cannuk Audio Mart http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/ chances are you can sell the unit if it turns out that you do not need it. I would believe Nick if he says that the 1120 works great and doesn't need an additional external amp to power the front 3.

The dynamic power reqirements to run the surronds where-ever they are are really minimal.

Now I will admit that I did get a second ADA1000 x 5 channels and use that to run my center and side/back surrounds. I already had the 4 channel ADA1000 for the LFR speakers and just wanted a solution that got it done. I am sure if I had spent the time shopping i could have gotten a better deal. The driving force behind the purchase was that I have had past problems with feedback humm from amps, and the ADA just worked silent. I decided it cost less to just buy what i know would work than F! around looking just to save a couple of hundred where i had already waited weeks of my time and could see weeks more going in. Time is Money.

NickBuol got a great deal from Vancouver, but hey if your serious, I think Peak Audio in Halifax has smokin deals and with the low dollar right now they'd probably give it to you wink
Before Trump goes all free trade crap these amp I believe are duty free, you'd probably get one a bit over $2000usd

Nope it would cost too much to get here. I got my quote for a XPA 3 and it was $1675 and two BasX300 and $1300.
s for Pre/Pro no not even thinking of anything but the AVM60 or MRX and pretty sure it's going to be a MRX1120

If I go the AVM60 route I could get another used MCA50 and find a MCA30.
The Emotiva's are going to cost the more. I can get a AVM60 for the same price as the MRX1120. well pretty close, Think it was $2400 for the MRX1120 and $2700 for the AVM60.
The other option I have is there's a MCA20 on CAM I coule nab that for the L/R and use the MCA50 for the surrounds and Center channel. The centre is basically on it's own transformer and the Surround backs won't use much power.
That would be the cheapest route actually, not sure I am going to hear any difference in my head between the MRX and AVM wink
