Yep, can't wait. Plan to cycle the sub channel and play with position, phase, levels, etc to try and get the best curve "before" ARC.

I decided to give Emotiva another chance. For those old timers you might remember I had issues with their once King of the Hill amp the MPS1, it kept shutting down driving my M80s. I ordered the BASx A500 to use 4 of the channels to drive my M3 In Ceiling speakers. I was going to get the Outlaw 5000 which is a better amp spec wise, however, with shipping it would be almost $200 more than the A500 at $499.

I was thinking about getting some cheaper XLR Balanced interconnects since my AVM60 and 7700 amp have that option. The A500 just has unbalanced which will be fine. Shopping around for those now. I've read good things about GLS Audio.

Just FYI that ARC has a "quick measure" feature too that can help you get real time measurements as you tweak and adjust. The mice thing about this is that you can put the mic at your listening position, move your laptop into eyesight range, and adjust things at the sub while it is still measuring without having to go back and forth from sub to the seat to the sub back to the seat. Just saves time vs using a meter manually.

Just a thought.

Yep, I've read about that, also thought about possibly plugging the laptop into one of the hdmi inputs so the output would come on the projector?

Hi Randy (SirQuack)

How are you liking the Anthem MRX? I've used Denon for quite some time, but I'm considering Anthem MRX720.

Do you have any review comments at this point?

I have the AVM60 which is a Preamp and use separate amplifiers. I think the processing end and Arc are identical. Nickbuol has the MRX1120 so I'm sure he will chime in.

To be honest I just got mine hooked up so haven't had a lot of time to tweak things or run ARC. I plan to do that over the next day or so. My last two receivers were Denon before this Anthem, at this point I think I am going to be happy with my purchase.

Well, I haven't actually played any material with ATMOS decoding on the DVD, but tonight we watched The Accountant and HOLY CRAP I can't believe how much better things sound. My kids even said they can tell a huge difference. The Accountant was in 7.1 DTS HD. It truely is amazing. I put in a few of my older action Bluray DVDs as well just to listen to some of the action scenes and was blown away.

One side note on my EP600 sub which has a newer amp replaced about 3 years ago I am hearing what I am describing as a fluttering sound of the woofer or air escaping during heavy LFE during movies. For ex. we were watching Superman Returns ( the star is from my town)..anyway, during the Jet scene as the LFE was growing in intensity, you could hear what sounded like a fluttering sound when the woofer was starting to pound.

Also, with ARC when I was setting up my subs, before I did the final measurements, I did the "quick" test to dial in phase and levels to get the 'before' graph as flat as possible. I could almost hear like a "pumping" sound of the driver on the EP600 over and over.

I will try snugging up all the hex bolts on the amp and river to make sure air isn't escaping somewhere...

You made a pretty substantial upgrade to your speaker system, have you played any movies in just regular 5.1 or 7.1 without using the atmos upsampling. It would be interesting to see how you felt about the 7.1 speaker upgrade using your previous receiver. I know when i buy something new just he excitement makes a perceived improvement, not that i am saying that is the only thing going on here smile. So glad to hear all your hard work is paying dividends.

As for the sub i would try backing it down a bit and see if that changes anything. How Anthem handles dual subs really intrigues me, i wish dirac did the same. Sadly 3g is above my paygrade.

Randy, your initial experience (not the sub problem, but the rest of it) is what I experienced when I first fired up my Anthem MRX1120. Somehow something just was so much "better" sounding, and that was before running ARC.

Glad that you are seeing value for the investment. Now to sort out your sub... Oh, and play something in native Atmos.

The only upgrade was the ceiling speakers. I had 7.x before. Replaced my Qs8s with M22s for the surround locations. The Denon 3808ci was one of the kings back in the day. Initially I do thing ARC is much better than Audyssey Mult XT on my Denon. I did 7 measurements, one in each seat but can do up to 10. Might do another measurement and put the remaining 3 between the 2 rows, will see....

I don't think it is an issue where the sub needs to be dialed down they are all calibrated to have combined dB of 75dB. Last night I recalled I had removed the rubber feet. I have the horizontal EP600 but I actually stand it up in the back of the room. I thought it looked cleaner not having the feet sticking out so I removed them. But in doing so created 4 holes that I think air is escaping. Will do some more testing tonight...
