Very interesting. I wonder if Ian would let me pop off a few rounds of .308 in the chamber ? I think it's on the outside wall so all we would need is a ~6" port so bullets could pass through and scope could see the target, plus someone on the outside to make sure nobody wanders through "downrange" on their lunch break.

I have been living out in the sticks for a while now, but in the last couple of years some new people have been moving out of the city and have been horrified to find carnivorous wild animals, people shooting guns, and worst of all farmers putting manure on their fields - "what is that awful smell, it almost smells like **** ?".

Eventually someone is going to have to tell them where their food comes from.

Anyways, I can't help with the manure and have no plans to shoot wild animals unless they are actively trying to eat me and have a reasonable chance of success, but I have been thinking about building some baffles to tone down the muzzle noise when target shooting until we wise up and allow the use of silencers.

For some reason (perhaps the current state of the art, eg example above from Switzerland) I was thinking "room treatments" as the starting point rather than "anechoic chamber", but clearly I have not been setting the bar sufficiently high smile

@Bridgeman, you really are great at giving me a good laugh.

I am considering taking down my treatments and do some claps while measureing with REW. Too much treatment is not good either.

... or just fire blanks - very similar report compared to live ammo.

I believe the chamber at Axiom is a self contained "box or room" within the building. I recall looking around between the walls and floors of the chamber and the building itself.

Cool vid. My room sounds like the short pop. Sound power in a nutshell. Use a balloon pop in your room vs clapping hands. Dollar store trip! smile

Hey Richard here is a great read to chew on if you wanna really dial things in. Oldy but a goodie.

The recent home theater geeks featured Paul Hales again. He is a great guest with lots of info and informed theory\techniques to share. Too bad Scott always interrupts his guests....
