I was wondering if powering LFRs with a 2 channel amp capable of outputting to six speakers would work. I was considering a Yamaha MX 1000. A very nice 2 channel. It has connections to power up to 6 speakers. I understand the overall power will be reduced. The amp is capable of lower impedance. Has anyone done anything similar. Would this work? Ultimately I would look for a second amp but in the mean time???

It won't work the way the LFR's are intended. The Yamaha only has 2 inputs for left and right channel, and the DSP from the LFR's requires actual dedicated 4 channels of amplification.

2 of the Yamaha amps would work.

I didnt think it would work but thanks for the confirmation. Right now I am using a behringer EP 1500 and a crown mt 1200. They work well but i am concerned about the slight gain mismatch. It isn,t much but I would like to get matching amps. Have always liked the Yamaha amps particularly the mx 1000. Have a chance at one. maybe look for another or one from the same family of amps.....likely the same gain. How do you like the xls3500s ONN? My old crown is nice sounding but the fan is loud.

Check with Ian on an ADA-1000-4 ... I have both it and an ADA-1500-4, and the 1000 totally rocks the house with the LFR's.

As an owner of LFR's, you should get a really good price.

Do you find much difference between the two? I was considering the 1250. I do like it loud at times smile

I have yet to clip the ADA-1000. Keep in mind, with the ADA-1000-4 rated at 250 WPC into 4 ohms and the ADA-1250 rated at 312, you are talking a 1 dB difference in SPL. If one does 110 dB clean, the other will do 111 dB clean.

Either amp will kick ass. Call Ian, and ask if the 1500-4 I sent back is available. I had an extra here and just sent it back. It was Axiom's amp, not mine. We both forgot I had an extra. He might swing a deal on it, then you will NEVER look back.

Thanks for the heads up craigsub. I asked Ian about that amp today and it is available. I will be picking it and an ada 1000 up tomorrow. He suggested trying both in my own room for comparison. I will pay for the ada 1000 and if I decide to keep the 1500 I will just pay the difference. Just gonna bring back whichever amp I decide not to keep. The 1500 is a pretty sweet deal so I will be surprised if I keep the 1000.

My Crowns work great. Every once in a while I may hear the fan going.
