Hello everyone. I have a URC R50 that I've had for quite a few years. It works ok but I need to replace it with something much simpler for the wife. My setup is basic home theater, new Samsung LED TV, Denon AVR, Fios cable box and Samsung Blu Ray. The R50 requires some long press and some short press commands, and can be a little cumbersome. The new Harmony remotes look very simplfied but I am concerned about the number of bad reviews I see on Amazon and wanted to see what you guys think of them or if you have another suggestion?
Thank you

I have a harmony one that i bought used a few years ago and its still working great and i have a cheaper harmony i got from The Source that is 5 years old and its still working great. Only complaint is how often it needs to sit on the charger. The newer ones are quite expensive so i havent taken the leap to upgrade. I find them very handy once you get htem setup the way you like.

I have set up 3 harmony 650s and a harmony one. Once the hurdle of setup is over they are solid.

One thing to note is its probably a good idea to get one with Bluetooth. More devices (like Apple TV and some lighting controls I think) are going to wireless over ir control. The ones with Bluetooth too go for a little more so it's something to weigh as you decide.

HA HA , this guy has a urc that he set up so the harmony will be a walk in the park. I looked into a URC and it pretty much is like programming a rocket to fly to the moon. They designed for integrator's , i banged my head off the desk reading over at their forums when i passed out LOL

i dont recall the name of the program i started setting up but it was for network control of all my device that i bought a tablet explicitly for but after a lot of frustration i finally threw in the towel . The harmony does all i want to do for now since i cant afford any of the fancy lighting controls etc. Maybe when i retire and i really bored . I have the freedom 75 retirement plan so who knows.

Thanks guys for the advice. Fooling around with the new TV I realized that the TV remote will operate components connected to the TV and auto switch inputs when the component is activated. My wife likes the TV remote, it works like a wii. Tomorrow Im going to take a bluray player from another room no one is using and hook it directly to the TV, bypassing the AVR. All she really wants to do is watch her Christmas movies, she dosent care about surround sound. Should make her happy and save me $300 at the same time.
