The only thing that matters in my house is audio. I could not care less about aesthetics. As I sit here and listen to Calcutta Blues by Dave Brubeck while sipping a fine Chardonnay and munching on smoked Gouda, organic Medjool dates, honeycrisp apples, Algerian tangerines, gypsy salami, fig and olive raincoast crisps, and melted Toblerone chocolate, life is good and it's going to get better when my son arrives from out east. But life could be even better with M100s.

Lmao. All sounds good except...chardonay, smoked gouda, tangerines and fig crisps? I'll take some A-grade sativa, a cold beer, a bowl of pistachios and some dire straits - alchemy blu ray, instead My sectional couch only fits one way in this rental house. I talked to the wife about new furniture be we are going to wait until we buy our own house (hopefully this year). I think, with proper planning, aesthetics can go hand in hand with good audio. And call me OCD, but I feel it's just as important. Like exlab said, no wires showing, everything run neatly and organized behind the brains of the audio operation. Clean installation. I look forward to having a bigger space to get a wider spread for the whole system. And hopefully it allows me to have the qs10's on the wall. Ideally for me, I'd love to see my m80's 10 feet apart. And perhaps the surrounds at 12 to 14 feet apart. And it will be in a drywalled and carpeted basement I hope. I'll also be going to 7.2.2 at some point but that's a long ways down the road. Perhaps I don't trade my m80s in when I buy the m100's...who knows what I do with that The future wife is pretty tolerant of my audio obsession, but she has limits I'm sure. Lol

You better find out what those future wife limits are right now and if they don't mesh with yours and you can't get her to see eye to eye, punt her! Life's too short to compromise on audio for too long. LOL! I have beer, pistachios and Dire Straits as well. I'm just not in that kind of mood today. I also have Smilax ornata from time to time courtesy of my grade 11 physics teacher who got me hooked on it. I'm totally non-linear dude even though I'm an engineer.

Isnt that native medicine to treat syphilis? *grin* Haha I kid. All sounds good and like your eclectic tastes Her limits are pretty vast and compromising. She's pretty supportive. Priorities though...i need my own house to make my own. Especially in regards to audio and home theater. She knows the next purchase is an ep800...after we are in a house.

Although I love the 800, I am not sure anyone needs it. I have a 4,200 ft^3 A/V space open to the rest of the house and after calibration, the 800's gain control is at about 40% of max. This by the way is the factory default setting (is this coincidence?).
Slimpikins has a 10,000 ft^3 space and the 500 appears to be working well for him. I think the 600 is about as deep as anyone needs and the 500 may be good enough. Getting a couple of 500s may result in better bass for you if you care how it sounds to others besides you at the MLP.
BTW, with the 800, I've turned the bass volume up to about 70% and it remains tight and controlled with no audible distortion. This is certainly bass-head level in my room and I much prefer the calibrated setting. Ian has just finished the DSP code for a "gut punch" mode and I am looking forward to trying that out (see thread below). Ian is also looking at Air-enabling the DSP-based subs and including pre-built modes and getting rid of all the "hard" switches and dials on the amp. It would be cool too if we could create our own custom curves and even cooler if the sub could EQ itself via a microphone.

Wow, I was monitoring that sub thread for awhile but didn't realize he actually chimed in and is going to adjust the dsp for "gut punch" I need overkill. It's my nature. I love bass too so that helps lol. But I can't be left with what ifs. I'll be buying the ep800 for sure. And for my room especially, I realize it's overkill...but I need that. Lol. If i move and my space doubles in size...it just means I can make due comfortably until I buy a second one haha I too would be interested in dsp modes with different characteristics. I'm okay with them dropping the physical dials/switches...as long as all those features can still be adjusted and the interface on whatever electronic device, is similar. It's nice to adjust things from the listening position (s) P.s. loved hearing about how you couldn't produce distortion or anything when pushing it that hot. Very encouraging

That is your friendly neighbourhood DSP at work.
I really don't need any DSP modes, my house's structure can hardly handle what I throw at it now...

He's planning a web-based, Android and iOS app just like the Axiom Air.
