From the owners manual: "If you drop your speaker into a pool, unscrew the woofer and pull it out of the cabinet to drain the speaker. Reinstall the woofer and the speaker is ready for use again. The screened, angled port prevents water from entering the speaker under normal circumstances."
Well I am happy to report that they aren't lying. Had one near me as I was installing pavers around our new pool. My wife is doing some gardening, and decides to yank the garden hose without looking. Plop! The speaker goes straight into the drink. I fish it out by the still attached wire, and it is FULL of water. Follow the instructions. (allowing it to air out and dry overnight) No audible change. I love my Axiom's.

Sounds like you managed to test the water resistance above and beyond what whoever wrote the manual was thinking. I guess the expectation was that it would fall into the water and float port-up so no water would get into the cabinet.
EDIT - scratch that... after posting I realized that "normal circumstances" did not involve going into the pool.
Good to hear it all survived. I guess that's another argument in favour of metal cones.

This sounds rather like my wife. Today i found her Sharpie marker underneath our toaster oven just asking to have its solvent ignited. Kinda the opposite of drowning the outdoor speaker.

What you are describing is normal behaviour. It's unusual people like us who actually think about things like that.
Everyone else has to be painstakingly trained, and I don't know if we even do that for people handling nuclear weapons any more.
