Everyone I've met is unwilling to devote the necessary space for the soundstage(s) they hear at my place.

The superb Vienna Philharmonic presented an excellent concert in Prom 61 . Dvorak's nasty little fairy tale about the "Noonday Witch" was the opening work and was followed by Korngold's very melodious Violin Concerto. The soloist added a brief encore by Torrega.

Following intermission, Dvorak's Symphony No. 9("New World"), commemorating the time he spent in the U.S., was the major work and the concert concluded with a Strauss polka as an encore.

Every culture had (has?) their own way of scaring kids into submission and the Slavs were no different.

Yeah, Tex; fortunately my mother wasn't in to the noonday witch thing.

The Staatskapelle Dresden was in for Prom 63 .
The monumental and fiendishly difficult to play Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3 opened and got an excellent performance. The pianist added encores of Rachmaninoff's Vocalise and a version of Tea for Two.

The second half featured the genial Brahm's Symphony No. 2 with an encore of his Hungarian Dance No. 1.

The Czech Philharmonic visited London for Prom 69 .The concert opened with colorful selections in the Overture and Dances from Smetana's The Bartered Bride. There followed a scene from Tchaikovsky's opera Eugene Onegin.

Following the intermission the massive wartime Symphony No. 8 by Shostakovich was the major work of the concert.
