Hello, looking for advice before I actually test this due to complexities involved in accessing speakers.

My main HT setup currently includes 2 M60, 1 VP150, 1 EP350, 2 QS4's + 2 Polk speakers for front Heights.

I have a setup in another room with 2 M22's and 1 VP100.

My question to you dear Axiomites is this...

If I were to switch the M60's to the M22's in my main HT setup, would there be any noticeable impact to sound?

For music listening yes, for movies no. I've found I can switch my M100s to M3s in my 4,200 cu.ft. room and it makes no practical difference for movies. Music is an entirely different matter. This is regardless of whether I power them with an ADA or my Onk.

What version is your gear?

Hey, the M3's are V3 and the rest were all purchased around 10-12 years ago so likely V1 or V2.

I've got an entirely separate setup for music so both of these rooms are mainly movies, games and TV.

Main HT setup with 7.1 is with a Marrantz sr5011 (hopefully upgrading to something 11.2 in the next year). 3.0 setup is with Onkyo SR609

I haven't heard v3 so I can't comment on it. However, from everything I've heard on these boards and the bit I've heard from Ian, has led me to believe there were major changes between the v3 and v4. I'm not just talking HP woofer and better tweeter. I think the mid was improved, definitely the crossovers and improved understanding of the family of curves.

I had all v2 including a 150 and 600 that left me emotionally distraught. The 80s couldn't give me soundstage depth and placement across the stage wasn't great. The QS8s were puny. The v4 was a God-send. I just can't say enough good things and I'll stop now because board members are sick of me crooning about it.

Keep v4 in mind as you create your roadmap.

My opinion.

In your 3-channel room, you will hear a noticeable difference, especially with base response of the M60's lacking in the M22's.

In your dedicated HT, for movies, your EP350 and VP150 do most of the work so you shouldn't notice. For music, unless you switch to 2-channel direct mode, the difference should be minimal in all other formats as the base response should be handled by the EP350.

The caveat from Mojo will depend on the version of your speakers as there have been improvements over the years. If your M22's are much older than the M60's, I would place the newer speaker in the room you do most of your listening.
