Case in point, that's a lot of money for just a 7.1 AVR.

To each their own I guess. Thats a mid priced unit compared to some others.

Mid tier Denons are $1799....

I hear you Chesseroo,
I've taken lately to purchasing refurb units especially if I'm buying last years tech.
The 7.1 unit I have in the family room and my 8805 are both refurbs. My M22's and VP180HP are refurbs. Axiom's refurbs are especially sweet if you get it during one of their sales ...

let's see ... x% off for refurb, y% off that for sale, and z% off that for loyalty ... oh, wait ... I can buy more ...

I'd rather pay more and get something that delights me and isn't a noise generator.

Nothing wrong with the Denons. 2 waiting to go in homes right now. 2700 and 3700. They just work, so zero hassles after setup.

Just not as robust setup wise for speaker correction. Personally, I would not consider any unit without Dirac now I use it.

I dont use the Denon auto setup routine for installs.

Although, the NAD is better in some ways, has little quirks that drive me nuts sometimes. Like loses HDMI audio lock if you skip too many chapters. Usually during a demo..... ugh. Lol.

I wish Denon had Dirac or ARC and it worked reliably.

Then you should stay away from prepros and receivers ...
The noise floor is fine for me but some others feel differently ...

Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of Audacity it sometimes works ok but you have to check and adjust stuff more often the not.

Folks complain about it but it has always worked consistently for me in my Onk. Never a glitch. I've noticed it always sounds better at my MLP with only 3 measurements around my corpus callosum. I do wish I could control the upper frequency to limit the correction bandwidth.
