We have been thoroughly enjoying the new M100s and ADA1500s for a while now. Out of the blue Ian contacted me and asked I knew about the LFR1100 Actives and would I be interested in an upgrade. Of course I know about them but the cost was just out of my range. Ian crunched the numbers and came up with a trade in offer nobody could refuse. So long story short, the M100s will be going back and the LFR1100 Actives will be heading my way! I am SUPER excited about this.

That's great. I have been puttering away at getting mine set up... hoping to get some noise out of them this weekend.

That’s fantastic!
What amplification configuration will you be using?

What amplification configuration will you be using? I currently have an ADA1500-3 and an ADA1500-4. As part of the deal, Axiom is upgrading them to an ADA1500-7 and an ADA1500-8. So if I want I can dedicate an ADA1500 to each LFR1100 Active and use my Denon for surrounds, or use the ADA1500s to power everything.

I finally got the equipment delivered and had some time to set it all up and give it a listen. Long story short, the LFR1100 Actives with the ADA1500-8, ADA1500-7 and one EP800 are the best speakers I have ever heard in my life.
Ian had suggested that I would no longer need the VP180 with the LFR1100s and he is absolutely correct. Also on his recommendation I turned off Audyssey, and crossed over to the EP800 at 40 Hz (from the LFR1100s DSP). I have come to the conclusion that with these speakers I actually much prefer listening to music in stereo mode than any type of surround. So I no longer have to switch between surround modes and fiddle with this and that. EVERYTHING sounds night and day better to the way I had it before.
You can hear the absolute clarity of everything in the music, and with the EP800 crossed over at 40Hz I was able to turn it up more to match the outputs of the LFRs. I actually can feel the kicks in the bass without it becoming boomy or overbearing. I had my kids come down and give them a listen and they were amazed as well. Their two main comments were that for the first time they actually felt the energy of the music, and also they were amazed that only the mains were playing. They kept turning around looking at the surrounds and rears because the LFRs were imaging all over the room.
I was very disappointed to have to leave for work on the road this morning. I'm really looking forward to being able to spend a lot more time with this setup. Axiom has really knocked it out of the park with these speakers.

You said you are feeding the 800 off the DSP. I assume that means you are feeding the 800 off either the left or right channel as there are twin DSP boxes - one for each LFR.
I have twin 500s. I feed each off the left and right DSP boxes. I feed the 800 off the Onk's .1 channel.

Can he feed one DSP into the input on the 800 and the other into the output to get both? Isn't that what people were doing when they had two sub outs on their receivers to get a stronger signal to the sub?

The answer to the question is No.
It's not a matter of a stronger signal. The left channel has its own bass ccontent. The right channel has a different bass content.
If your sub has a left and right input, you bring both the left and right channels into those inputs. The sub takes those two and sums them using an electronic circuit.
The Axiom subs have only one low level (RCA) input. That input was designed to accept the LFE output from a receiver or a single channel from a receiver's pre-out.
The "out" is to daisy-chain the "in" signal to other subs. I am quite sure the "out" is just paralleled to the "in". Whatever goes in, can also go out.
And just to add, if you feed both DSPs into one sub, right into "in" and left into "out" for example, you will set up bucking currents in each DSP output. These bucking currents will oppose the voltages the DSPs are trying to put out.

The answer to the question is No. Thanks for the explanation. I wasn't sure how that all worked.

This is what I do. I explain stuff. All day long. When I don't know how to explain something that I should be able to explain, it eats at me. So I go figure it out. And when people don't get it, I get mad at me because it means I didn't explain well what I was trying to explain. Did I explain it well enough for you?

I only use one of the DSPs output to the one sub per Ian's recommendation. Since I crossover at 40Hz he said there really wont be much of a difference because most music is recorded in mono that low.

You're not getting it because it's a bow window.

It's quite simple. I only have so much time to play redneck before my government takes all the fun away from me. Then I'll have to find other mischief. Now pardon me while I sit on my redneck deck, in my redneck yard, situated around my redneck neighbors and scheme how to get us off this planet before we or something else wipes us out.

Did I explain it well enough for you? Ha ha, yes, makes sense. I'm sure I was combining two different discussions in my head, about the subs with the left and right inputs along with being able to use the output as the input if the input is damaged. Shows how casual my approach to the hobby is despite my dollars invested.

Politics is why most people have left audio forums. Can we get back to speakers, music and movies?

If you do get popcorn, will you trade for my butter knives? Those are the next ones to be confiscated.
