We are just finishing Silicon Valley on HBO, There are a few good characters, and having worked in the tech game for close to 35 years - and spending considerable time in the valley - it is an interesting walk down memory lane!

Silicon Valley. The Capuchin monkey with a prosthetic hand. Just about fell off my seat.

I had to stop after only 1 or 2 episodes. The show was already something I wasn't sure I'd return to, but someone said I should check it out if only as 4K demo material on my new OLED. Sure, it looks nice, but Anthony Mackie has to be one of the most boring actors to keep getting work.

Last night I re-watched True Grit (guess I was in the mood for more Coen Brothers) and Prisoners. I still enjoyed them both. I guess I feel the need to get this last little bit out of the first-gen LFR1100s. The new Actives were held up by customs for a little bit, but they continued their journey on Thursday, and they're supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

I also watched Velvet Buzzsaw on Netflix since I really liked Nightcrawler, and it's the same writer-director. It had its moments, but overall it felt a little half-baked.

I'm still trying to decide what I'm watching tonight as my last meal for the passive LFRs.

I went with the original Alien on UHD Blu-ray, not even realizing it was Alien Day. I'm impressed with how good it looks, dated effects notwithstanding. The picture starts out more soft than not, but as it went along, it seemed like the details got significantly sharper. I'm glad they put so much effort into the transfer, though I'm always a little disappointed when a UHD Blu-ray doesn't have an Atmos mix.

Yeah, that was classic, as was Fiona arriving by cab!

I hate to admit it, but the Apple TV looks significantly better than the Fire TV Stick 4K. I bought it mainly to get the free year of Apple TV+ in order to watch Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet, but I was also curious how much difference it would make getting a beefier unit. It does make a difference. There's a bit of fuzziness to the picture on the Fire TV Stick, with the Apple TV looking crisper and cleaner. I don't like the remote. Since I can run the streaming apps I want on the Apple TV, I'm going to take the Fire TV Stick 4K out of service.

Besides Mythic Quest, which ended up just being decent, not great, I really liked the Beastie Boys Story documentary on Apple TV+. I only ever heard bits and pieces, so it was eye-opening and a lot of fun. Besides that winner, I also really enjoyed the Home series, about some pretty cool homes. I wish I had the money.

Now I'm hooked on "The Outer Banks". It's a new series on Netflix.

The Outer Banks first season was really good. I have to chuckle at the 20 something actors portraying teenagers. Have you watched Peaky Blinders? It's one of the better series on Netflix.

Did Sonic the hedgehog last night. Quite funny definitely worth a watch. Jim Carrey is sadly still stuck playing himself as in most all movies he's included. But it worked quite well for Egg man.
