Walnut espresso M2. The M2 with 500 is superior to your 60s. Place them with the tweeters below ear level and watch the images they form. Sublime mids and highs. Excellent for MLP up to 12 feet.

Interesting how that natural walnut seems different in colour somewhat from light source to light source. First it looks like a nice even grey brown but then it takes on a real orange tint. In the Axiom deals pages, it looks much more orange on some units (for example: https://www.axiomaudio.com/arb-0129). This is making it tough to consider the espresso or not. We don't want it super dark brown, love the natural walnut look, but do NOT want any of that orange. I already have some Tannoys with a cherrywood finish that have 'oranged' over time. I have a pair of old Mission 737r in walnut that also have that orange look (i was going to refinish them). Hmm, almost starting to wonder if we're coming back full circle to Boston Cherry. I think the Bordeaux might be too red/purplish from what i've read. The Cherry chestnut was another possibility but wondering if it is too red.

The espresso is indeed a dark brown. And the Bordeaux is indeed very red. The cherry chestnut can also be quite red. This is the photo that made me fall in love with the walnut. In my friend's natural light living room, her M5s look very similar to this. No orange in that natural light. Regardless of some tinge of orange, the walnut is indeed timeless and I like it very much, https://www.audiocircle.com/image.php?id=49960

I had some Tivoli speakers in walnut. They generally looked pretty good but have gained that orange tinge over time. Perhaps getting some kind of espresso 'light' stain would do the trick; make it more of a black walnut finish.

It sounds like you're not going with rosewood, but here are a couple of close-up shots, anyway, of the Actives and EP800 I just got.

Thanks CV this is great. Can you confirm that is the Rosewood in Natural (no stain colour)?
If not, i have to say it looks alot like Boston Cherry but with alot more grain.

If not, i have to say it looks alot like Boston Cherry but with alot more grain. The Boston Cherry vinyl has more red. All of the M5HPs and the other EP800 I have are still in Boston Cherry. Even with more red, it's close enough that they don't look terrible together.
