Can anyone give an example of something that gives off a sound in, say the 15-20 kHz? What about something in the 40-20 Hz? How high is that buzz I always hear from my t.v. set?

Here is a 3 sec tone sweep between 15 and 20hz.

Here is a 3 sec tone sweep between 20 and 40hz.

No clue on the frequency of the noise emmited by TVs, but its probably pretty high. (10-15khz maybe?)

id think the noise you hear from the tv is in the 15-20k range.

Its caused by the flyback transformer, and the 10,000+ volts in there

And if you ever want to recreate the "big bang" - cross a screwdriver between the anode and the aquadag on one of these.

I messed with the tone generator a bit and it does sound like the TV hiss noise is probably in the 15-20khz range. Here is what a 15 to 20khz sweep sounds like.

Hi,

Yep, the flyback transformer. I think it's 16 kHz if memory serves. That must be one very old TV. Is it? Is it an all-tube B & W (black and white)?

I can alway hear my TV when it's on...it's actually similar to a very low tone...it's almost like you can feel it more than hear it.
