Din,
This review and this review may also help.

I swear I'm gonna stop reading this thread. It's just making me depressed.

Keep in mind that those differences wouldn't be so glaringly obvious without an A/B comparison. I assume that second link is depressing you?

Yeah, that and Alan.

Oh well. I'm sure I will be quite happy with the M50s. After all, I don't have much choice, do I... since it's either the M2s or M3s on a bookshelf or the M40s or M50s.

Thanks alot,

I am planning on getting the home theatre package of whichever model I choose. The M60 package is starting to look very appealling since it has the higher end sub.

The stands that are available for the QS8 speakers (the QSS) sit at 36". Adding in the height of the QS8 speaker we come to 44.25". Is is possible to get the QSS just slightly shorter? If it was only 30" tall it would suit my room nicely. I have a ledge going around part of my living room that is 40" high, so if the stand was only 30", the speaker would not be sticking up above the ledge. (it would total 38.25")

Thanks again!

Din, just wall-mount the QS8's using the included bracket. It works great! That way, you can put them at whatever height works best. My experience is that having them up a bit higher is actually better, and I think that scenario is consistent with the Dolby labs recommendations. But, the QS8's are great speakers, and very flexible in their placement.

Hi Again,

Well I think that the stock options will be exercised today, so the order will be placed shortly.

I have read a lot of comments about the SVS subs. I consider Bass a very important (probably the most important) part of my music. I assume that the Axiom sub is a very competant sub, but the SVS equivalent (2039pci Model SV20-39PCi) is slightly cheaper and gets better reviews. I know I will have to pay shippining on the SVS sub so that will be a consideration as well.

Can anyone who has used both of these subs give an un-biased opinion?

thanks,

Din, the Axiom sub is regarded as good with the SVS and HSU subs a bit better (it's what they do). I have the 20-39PCi in a 16x22x10 room and it fills the room handsomely. The LFE is fabulous. I can't imagine neding more bass than the SVS provides. I like a bit extra and the gain is about 45% of max. Things rattle at that level. I don't think you make a mistake with this puppy.

Do you prefer a fuller, softer bass sound, or a tighter, harder, yet less full kind of sound?

SVS (from the one I heard, and from reports from a couple of other people) have a softer, yet fuller sound.

Hsu on the other hand has a tighter, punchier sound, but isn't quite as smooth or full sounding.

To use an anaology I've used before, the SVS is like being punched by a guy wearing boxing gloves. A Hsu is like getting hit with bare knuckles. Both hit hard, but are different.

Something to ponder before making the purchase.
