Hi, I'm very near pulling the trigger on some speaker upgrades and i've got questions i hope you can help me with Currently still running with M60's, QS4's, VP150 (all V2), and EP350 V3 which may be on its way out due to a new 'clicking' noise when it's on.
I plan on updating QS4's to QS8'S My fronts are currently behind an Acoustically transparent screen. There is about 11ft wide by 3.5ft deep of room so placement is very flexible.
For M60's I was planning on updating to a set of M5HP speakers.
Question - Given all 3 could be at the same height, would a 3rd M5HP be good as a centre speaker, or would I be better with an actual Centre speaker?
I'm not a bass hound, So don't feel the need to replace my sub right now, how's the Bass on M5HP?
What does this button do?

The M5s were a big upgrade over my M80v2. Improved everything but just could not go as loud as the M80s for the same power level. However, they were loud enough at 14 feet away.
I tried one as a center and did not like it. It was definitely better than my 150v2 but not nearly as good as the 160v4. I also tried a phantom centre with the M5 and found it more diffuse and natural-sounding at the MLP. Off-axis though, the centre image collapsed.
I had QS8v2. What an improved experience with QS10HP!
The M5 has plenty bass. Both the bookshelf and on-wall models have too much for my 1900 cu ft living room. Not for my 4200 cu ft main room though. They are better in there but still need attention. An EP sub and Audyssey XT32 took care of that. They were terrific at 12 feet apart and a 14 foot MLP, casting a 20 foot wide soundstage with images in the space behind them and black space between those images.
You may not be a bass hound but you'd be surprised how much emotionally impactful the bands above bass are when you clean up the bass.
If you can, experiment with their height. I found tweeters placed 6" below ear level helped them acoustically disappear better.
