I don't use Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Yeah I know, how could a person possibly not use them. I get by, barely, but I do nonetheless.
After reading the portion of the newsletter concerning the favorite Christmas film of each US state I felt the need to respond. Let me state I realize this isn't Axioms list, but.
While the film Holiday Rush, listed as the favorite holiday film of Michigan may be a fine film treasured by many it pales in comparison to the greatest Christmas film of all time bar none.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation!
Some might argue that Die Hard is the better, more festive choice but they would be mistaken. Even Home Alone, although not by a large margin, is a better choice than Die Hard.
For some much older choices there's White Christmas or It's a Wonderful Life or Miracle On 34th Street. All certainly treasured by some.
Only one film lovers opinion. What say you?
cheers, Jeff

I don't know what holiday rush is but no doubt home alone and christmas vacation were entertaining. But come on! Die Hard rules over the others. This was action at its best and a study for all those who aspire to be in the movie business. I saw it with a bunch of friends the first week it was out and we had a hell of a good time. Those were the days when no one could or had to shut up in movie theaters; outward bursts of emotion were encouraged. Nowadays, the theatres are crowded with lifeless zombies cramming their meaty pieholes with all kinds of vile crap. They're so busy slobbering all over themselves, I don't think they even watch the movie. The whole theater smells like lips and assholes smeared with ketchup and mustard. The putrid smell of junk food farts floats thick and juicy over the brainless crowd. It's no wonder sane people want to retreat to their home theater dungeons. Is this the feedback you were looking for?

Yeah, no. Wow, your Theatre experiences are so very different than mine have ever been! So the Moral for today is “be careful what you ask for”?

Hey Mike- That’s a great choice. I haven’t seen that film in quite a while.

Die Hard is the greatest Christmas film ever made. It's also a terrific family movie and a study of humanity.
I watched this with my still very good friend Dave whom I met in second year Engineering and four ladies who graduated from Liberal Arts. After the movie, the girls wanted to discuss it so we holed up at Schmecker's in St. James. Dave and I were mesmerized for the next 2 hours as we listened to the four of them dissect the movie, exposing us to everything we missed. It was right then and there I swore to never criticize anyone with what was then considered a useless Arts degree.
Seriously, think about it. Or watch it again and this time more critically.

Jeff Thanks. I have watched this yearly on Christmas Eve since I was a little kid. The stop motion specials from the 1960's would be next in line of faves. The comedic genius of the Chevy Chase makes Christmas Vacation great...and if you want humour, check out the Trailer Park Boys Xmas show - Dear Santa Clause, go F*** Yourself on Netflix! I am not a fan of the action adventure themed films that have been associated with the holidays.

Lol. Die Hard is not a family movie unless the kids are teenagers. What about Gremlins?

"It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls from the Nakatomi Tower"...
... although Die Hard 2 always seemed more Christmas-y to me.
Don't think I have ever watched Christmas Vacation all the way through. Maybe it's time. I just remember a lot of falling from the roof and that's always scared the **** out of me since I saw our neighbor fall when I was a kid.

So I guess you don't approve of me watching it with him when he was 9 and then explaining almost all the things I learned from the 4 ladies that night?
What about the lap dance from Devonne at 15?

We jumped off my friend's roof in the Winnipeg winter. It was only about a 4 foot fall. Slipping on his roof was more dangerous.

Krampus. Always a fun twist for the scary movie crowd.
The movie I reach for each year is A Christmas Story. I have a leg lamp in my living room. This movie is good medicine for the heart.
Scrooged is another favorite, but not so much that I watch annually.
Die Hard is a great movie, but I do not call it a Christmas movie.

My (legal) guests all wanted to watch Die Hard last night - in glorious 4K UHD with re-mastered audio. With seven Axiom subs a subbin', active LFRs and QS10s, you'd never know this movie was made in '88.
My son couldn't believe he first watched it at 9. What a terrible father I am. He was really disappointed I deprived him of watching it when he was 7.

Christmas with the Kranks, Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis. It’s also got Dan Akroyd.
Ok so I watched this one a couple years ago. And now it’s become a tradition in our house. It’s so lame yet hilarious. It’s over the top yet I can relate to it on so many levels!!!
Enjoy!!

I don't know what got into my guests but since they woke up this morning, they wanted to veg on more Die Hard flicks. I finally gave in earlier and we watched Die Hard 2. The Axioms are indeed very addictive.

Christmas with the Kranks, forgot that one, good choice! And just for the record, Planes, Trains and Automobiles is not a Christmas film. But, it is my favorite Thanksgiving film Jeff
