I've been using Nortons for many years. I just got pinged that my auto-renewal is about to hit my CC.
I guess it works OK, but it's starting to irritate me with the constant spamming, trying to get me to buy some new feature. I can't find a way to disable this crap either. So....I was contemplating a move to something else.
PC Matic is one I'm considering. Does anyone have any direct experience with it?

Never heard of it. I use Avast and I absolutely love it. No spam. Very efficient. And it saved me a few times.

Hackers don't target mac users because of the market of users aren't worth it. Actually Windows Defender built in has come a long way Michael and results are as good or better than some of the payed subscriptions for virus/malware/ransomware protection. I use free bitdefender as well on some of my pcs.

Actually mac's share has increase over the years ... last # I remember (2018 developer conference) ... 100 million in-use (about 10% worldwide). It's only increase from there.
There have been a number of viruses and malware which have been aimed at the Mac ... and OS X has only gotten more secure for it.
P.S. chrome books have also eaten into the PC market ...

We also have a number of Window PCs (kid gaming and my wife's work computer) which I keep on separate VLANs from myself. Used to use Webroot on them .. now I just use whatever Microsoft provides.

My employer is a constant target, so our cyber-security group beats it into our heads to be proactive, and not rely on Windows (or MAC) based protection. They've made me paranoid...... Money for a subscription is cheap insurance for the damage hackers can cause, so I don't mind paying. I just don't like the constant "buy more of our crap" spam that Notrons keeps hitting me with.

I ditched Norton a long, long time ago for that same reason.

Our school district and city departments ditched Symantec a few years ago after having a cybersecurity company audit our environment. We are now using Sentinel .

I'm very careful what I load on my computers and I keep devices/computers (especially ones that might be vulnerable) on a separate VLans to keep a breached computer from infecting other computers. I'm probably more paranoid then you.
So, my computers, wife's computer, the kids computers, game computers, guests, audio/video, house, switches/routers, and Internet of things each have separate VLans. Each VLan has access to only what it needs (server, printer, internet, ...). Some like switch and router access need a hardwire connection.

Avast, seems effective, light footprint, unlike Norton (haven't used it for years, maybe it's better now, dunno).
