Hey Guys,

I need to invest in a good pair of headphones. Listening to the M100's late at night in the garage is causing issues with the neighbors...hehe. Does anyone have a set of audiophile cans they can recommend.

Also, do I need a dedicated headphone amp?

Rebulx, not sure you know this but extensive headphone usage prunes the auditory cortex synapses that are responsible for spatial diversity. Basically, headphones make you acoustically dumber.

Hey rrlev and Rebulx, rrlev good call resurrecting that thread. Reblux, I stand by my comments in that thread of the headphones i've got, the NAD VISO 50. Been using them tons. No amp needed they go plenty loud off my iPhone and even more loud off my reciever. Totally adequet in my opinion. Theres soooo many choices out there. Gotta build a quiver of cans! Enjoy the shopping.

Ok Mojo, im teeing it up for you.........." I love my NADS. I've got alot of use out of them. Great frquency response , comfortable and they look good too".

Enter the mankini........

It's not Kodiak's fault. Why would anyone name their company NAD?

Hey guys. Thanks for the chuckle. I gotta hand it to Mojo, NAD doesnn't exactly create the best acronym.....But they make reasonably good stuff.

Captain obvious here, but i think it stands for New Acoustic Dimension, don't quote me on that....Im impressed at the level of your Mankini restraint Mojo, that was a perfect oppurtunity.

Guess you just didn't have the NADS for it. ( See what i did there...) But i digress, this doesn't get Rebulx any closer to getting some sweet cans to wear on his head and warp into the New Acoustic Dimension.....maybe a transwarp conduit would take him there.

Rebulx has some sweet cans on his head. They don't go by the name of NAD but rather DAWN.

lol, so true Mojo! I ended up going the high end route and got some Focal Stella's and a discontinued Focal Arche amp. It's pretty impressive but not worth the price tag. That jump from a 1k setup to a 5k setup is like 3-4% better audio. Not worth it in my book. It's too difficult to hear the difference. It's fun to actually try them out though, however, in my case, they will be staying put as I can't return them due to the site I purchased them from does not accept returns on discounted items. All in all, I'm happy with them. Lesson learned.

Thanks for the recommendation guys! From the other units I tried I can say that the Audeze LCD-1 and 700 series Bose were a lot of bang for your buck. The noise cancellation on the newer bose cans are really impressive.
