Obviously as I am spending to move from passive to active, it is a bit rhetorical of a question. But I have more than a single pair of Axiom speakers but only the LFR are actual floor standing. The QS are designed to mount directly on the wall so they are taken care of. That leaves for me about 3 pairs of bookshelf speakers.

Bookshelf may be a term for the size, but I never really thought of them actually being put inside a bookshelf as being an actual solution for how to mount them for listening.

When I was a youngster, perhaps I didn't fully understand the concept of money and have spent quite a bit of it in the quest for good sound. But I am pretty sure that I wasn't spending multiple hundreds of dollars to get a chunk of metal tube welded up to raise a speaker 23" off the ground. Back then there were at least 6-7 stereo shops around in the town l live in and you had plenty of choice for stands.

Not to knock Ian, but I came here and pulled up the speaker stands that are sold and thought, well, $160 for a pair of stands is maybe a bit more that I would prefer to pay, but OK.. then I realized that was the cost per stand. OUCH. I looked elsewhere and found that this seems to be the new norm. It looks like $600-900 is not an unheard of number for some stands that I saw from more boutique shops. I guess that now most people seem to think that homepod or sonos speaker are the pinnacle of listening that fit on the corner of a side table with their monophonic mediocrity goodness that sales of welded steel to raise speakers is now a niche market that can charge whatever it wants.

Am I just cheep? Does the desire not only to have great sounding music inside my home but to have to look good too mean that I should be willing to lay out the high dough. Or is this want for listening enjoyment just for the 1%ers who can afford it, and I should really just buy a pair of Apple AirPods and listen to spotify and shut-up.

There are a lot of stands that do a great job isolating. Whether they are worth $160 each is something worth investigating further.

I use one of these for my M5 center. (The other holds a 4 bay NAS drive behind my printer.)

They're strong and I think they look decent for about 40% of the Axiom stands.

I’m with Trevor. Not too hard to build your own.

I used angled silicone stands for my M5HP and treat them as floor standers. They're angled upwards 15 degrees to eliminate the floor bounce, and you need a pair for each M5HP. They're a perfect fit (I'll upload a photo once I update my gallery pics.)

https://www.amazon.ca/Trademark-Innovations-Desktop-Bookshelf-Speaker/dp/B07MCW1R3Q/ref=sr_1_29?crid=3FF0HQ6Q0KKWY&keywords=silicone+speaker+stand&qid=1651723689&sprefix=silicone+speaker+stand%2Caps%2C172&sr=8-29

For some reason, they're only available on the Canadian Amazon site. I can't tell if they are knockoffs of the Audio Engine DS1 stands or if they're the same manufacturer but rebranded.
