Hello Everyone,

Has any compared Axiom speakers especially the bookshelves with other well known brands like Dynaudio, Revel, KEF and Monitor Audio etc. How is the performance of M5HP compared to Dynaudio Evoke 20 or Revel M105 or M106 ? I have REL HT1508 subwoofer so I am not interested in the bass extension of the speakers, I am interested to know the sound/tonalcharacteristics of Axiom speakers in treble and midrange. I have heard Revel, Dynaudio and KEF but I have not heard Axiom speakers so I wanted to find out before pulling the trigger to get Axiom speakers.

Thanks
Chiru

I have the M5HP as well as the Kanto Yumi and Angstrom Omega II 200 bookshelves. I consider them all to have that NRC-sound. All three of them nail the midrange, have no noticeable colorations, and sound more alike than different at low volumes. That said, the Kanto and Angstrom has a lifted treble that I cut by ~4dB/2dB respectively. The Angstrom also gets shouty when I push volumes into the 60 dB + zone (which is why I'm no longer considering sound bars with their tiny drivers).

That said, I keep the M5HP in my main system because I find that blending the sub crossover at 40 Hz instead of 80+ Hz is magical in my room. My AVR has rudimentary room correction EQ, but I leave it off because it makes no meaningful improvement.

I've hard multiple KEFs and the Revel M106. Unfortunately not in any of my rooms and the speakers in all cases were not properly positioned. Therefore I can't make any meaningful comparisons to any of my Axioms. I can tell you the M5s are a more refined speaker design than my old M80v2. Hands down, I'd rather have the fidelity, soundstage and imaging of the M5. My review here under "Mojo":

Thanks Mojo for the response. I read your review and thanks for sharing it. I also read the professional review online https://www.soundstagehifi.com/index.php/1130 which was also helpful as the reviewer compared Axiom to other brand that I have heard at our local dealer.

There's been a number of comparisons of Axiom speakers vs other brands over the years. In the past two i did a bunch of towers and i think i posted some thoughts on Monitor Audio and Angstrom bookshelves as well.
Not as many forum posters as there used to be in here so you might have to look more broadly to find M5 vs other brands if those comparisons exist. Some KEFs and Revel are VERY VERY good. I've been looking around for some Revel F208s.
