ok, it's first thing in the morning and cruise on to the forum and see a post. i click on it and realize i've missed some conversation, and also want to continue reading the thread in the order of posting. so how do i do that without starting from the beginning post?

2dan-

if you notice, once you pick a forum, to the right are two columns that read 'views' and 'replies'. in the replies column, there is a number, then another number in parenthesis(???).. in the parenthesis, there is a number.. that number should be the amount of new posts since you last looked at the thread. when i click on threads to read, mine will often go immediately to the first post that i havent read. if it doesnt, then all you need to do is remember the amount of new threads(number in parenthesis), then go to the bottom of the thread, and count your way back up.. make sense?? i had a hard time trying to figure everything out at first, but i am coming around.

hope this helps.. feel fre to ask anymore questions.. the FAQ section at the top has a lot of good info also.

twodan, are youy viewing the forum in flat or threaded mode? In flat mode, the posts are layed out one after another -- in the order they were posted. In threaded mode, you see the hierarchical arrangement, and you have to click on each post to read it.

You can change your preferred display prefs by editing your profile, but to switch on the fly, just click the flat or threaded links to the right above the list of posts.

i usually view in threaded view. i know if i click flat, the posts follow in order. it's just they start at the beginning not from the spot i want to re-start from. that was hard to explain. know what i mean?

If you default to flat mode, then when you click on a topic with new posts, it'll automagically jump to the beginning of the new posts -- skipping those you've already read.
