All,

I just received my T752 on Friday, and am noticing some mildly annoying issues. I'm wondering if any of you have seen these issues before and might have some tips for getting them resolved.

First, some issues that I had heard about on other forums... I am hearing the "click" or "squeak" sound when adjusting the volume. It's only noticeable at low source volumes, so I'm not that concerned. Secondly, I experience the subwoofer "thump" when turning the receiver on. I don't think it's at a detrimental level, but it's at least very unrefined behavior for a $900 receiver.

Now for something I hadn't heard of before... When I turn the receiver on after a long standby period, the source is very quiet and static-y. The volume "squeak" also seems more pronounced. The static and volume "squeak" seem to fade over a period of 1-2 minutes as (I'm guessing) the amp warms up. Once the unit has been on for a few minutes, the static isn't noticeable. This is definitely the most disturbing behavior in my opinion.

Does anyone have any tips for how I might diagnose these problems at home before I move forward with NAD service?

Thanks!

badger,
I have an NAD T761 and have never experienced any of the issues you have mentioned. I purchased it from YAWA ONLINE and they were great to deal with. Did you get a "B" stock? Sounds like you should just send it back.

Haoleb,
I've never had any problems with the T 761, I have on occasion called them with questions about operation and such and they were extremly helpful. If they could not answer my questions at the time I called they always called me back. Great customer service, would recommend them to anyone.

Thanks guys. I bought mine from DMC Electronics, and David has been very nice to deal with. I'll try giving him a call to see if he has recommendations.

Meanwhile, I know there are some out there that have T752s! Has anyone else run into some or all of these issues?

Thanks!

badger98,

I have the NAD T752, I do have the volume beep or click sound when the level is adjusted, but to me this is a non issue since the sound is at a level that is barely audible. I still have the older firmware in mine, but I believe the newer ones gave the option to turn off the OSD volume changes which eliminates the sound.

As for your other issues, I don't have them and it is the first time I have read about them with the 752. Hope this helps.

I have the latest firmware (v 1.22), and there are some additional options available in another menu ("Advanced Options") that is not mentioned in the manual. I'll try to find out if any of these might help the volume issue.

Yeah, that must be where the option to turn off the OSD is, since I don't have that menu. Another cool feature with your firmware is the ability to rename the inputs. One other thing you might want to try that I have seen suggested before to control noise is to turn off all the digital audio and video inputs that you don't use. Good luck.

Well I guess I'll reincarnate this thread. I have a T762, but my question is regarding the HTR-2 remote. I programmed in all of my remotes (Denon DVD-2200, NAD C541, and Sony Wega/Vega HDTV) By themselves, all of the programmed functions work just fine on the HTR-2, but the problem that I run into is when I'm doing macros. For some odd reason the Sony remote commands will not work if used in a macro. It's really confusing because if the same commands work before then what makes the commands any different when being used as a macro? If you guys can come up with any ideas let me know. I'd love to actually use my remote to it's FULL potential.

It might be a timing problem. Can you program a few place holders or pauses in there?

See how far the macro runs, and then put a short pause in after the last operation that worked in the macro. A function may not be completed by the time the next command hits the receiver.

A recorded macro plays back a bit faster than you hit buttons during normal operations.
