The sound is definetly now more "expanded". Something is
taken away using the center channel with music. That includes
music DVD's as well as CD's. Again I am only listening to two channels and my center. I'm just wondering how really
useful this center channel is though. I don't want to upset
the AXIOM people. I've watched Blackhawk Down and the center
channel does bring out vocals but what else? I can get vocals out of 2channel if I need to. Is surrounds the way
to go for better music listening. I see no benefit in have
a center channel for 5.1 sound. Am I wrong on this?? I promise I'll stop asking these questions.

I find a center channel in movies significantly helps to anchor the sound of actors voices to the tv. Listening in stereo, sometimes the voice of a character seems quite disjoint from the actual image on screen.

Todd - keep asking. That's part of the fun in Axiomville. Ringmir is correct; the center is for anchoring the voices to the middle. I have been away for a bit, so I am not conversant with your trip thus far. Are you planning to get the surrounds (QS4/QS8) sometime soon? You really owe it to yourself to do that for a full audio experience. I feel that the QS8s are the stars in my M60/VP100/QS8 set.

Based on the other info I've seen concerning your posts, I'm wondering if you have calibrated the speakers with an SPL meter. If not, you must do so. The human ear is terrible for balancing. The more I read about the issues you describe, the more it sounds like a calibration issue. We'll keep banging away until we get this solved for you.

Yeah Todd, I think the surrounds are gonna make all the difference. It sounds like the center is doing just what it is supposed to do in HT; anchor the dialog in the middle of the sound stage.
