Interesting "amateurish" comparison of the two over at the Home Theater Spot.

Thanks for the link.
Looking around at the Axiom board over there I found a thread that spoke about Axiom coming out with a new lineup. A new flagship speaker to replace the M80...the possible end of the M3ti, and REAL wood veneers.
Hmmm...gotta love gossip. Wonder if any of it is true.

Thats been rumored around here as well. The biggest rumor is that Axiom is trying to come out with a new line of subs to compete better with HSU. It is still likely a rumor considering their subs are supposed to still be pretty damn good in comparison to most others out on the market at similar prices.

I am hoping that the rumour about the subs is correct and that they are out by August as my purchase date for complete new HT system is September.
My current alternatives are Rava or the to be announced Rocket ULF-10. The STF-2 was my initial choice but has been dropped for esthetic reasons (hardwood floor and a throw run just does not fit).
Specs and reports suggest that the EP175 is not bad, but not really feature or price competitive.

I'd be totally down for real wood veneers. They just look sweet... Today I was actually thinking about how one could retro-fits some on, or make an extended base for a M60/tower.

Rumours are rarely correct so don't hold your breath for an announcement of some expected product that may never come to be. It will only increase the personal disappointment.
I can only wonder if the gossip started from a thread in this forum some time ago when someone mentioned what they would "like to see" Axiom produce, which picked up over at the Spot as "heresay as to what Axiom is working on" and then came back here as "is" what Axiom is working on.

I heard that Axiom was bought out by Bose (Shhh! It's still a secret!). They plan to release super extra small speakers that will fit inside a Kinder Egg. The driver cones will be made out of recycled Best Buy flyers. Retail for $499 per speaker.

Axiom did have an upscale line at one point, called the Reference Series. This was when the AX lineup was intact, and featured real wood veneer....if memory serves.
I purchased the AX3 model in or around 1989, and they had 2 models - AX3 and AX5.
I visited the facility shortly after, but it was very small...nothing like the recent tour and pics posted by chess.
