Hello all, I have to admit, "I HAVE THE ITIS!!!" I currently have a pair of M60's and a VP150 for a center. I am about to leap to the M80's along with ta pair of QS8's. My question is can the Denon 1803 handle the load of a pair of M80s, VP150s along with a pair of QS8s? I want to be sure about this or do I need to bump up a little bit for the 2802, 2803? What should I do? I dont have much as far as a budget is concerned.(Maybe $500) The 1803 handled the M60s and the center VP150 with NO PROBLEM. Any advice?

K, the difference in power is of almost no significance. 90 watts is about 0.5dB more than 80 watts(e.g. if one could handle a peak of 120dB, the other could do 120.5)and note that at a comfortably loud listening level about 1-2 watts are used. The M80 is slightly more sensitive than the M60, so that's no problem. Those receivers should be equal in their ability to handle the 4 ohm impedance of the M80.

it has been well documented that the denon products CAN handle the 4ohm load of the M80's. i dont think that will be an issue. as far as the wattage, that really depends on just how LOUD you push your system. obviously, if you are stepping up from the M60's to get the M80's, then you are feeling the need for some extra volume. you might consider stepping up to a bigger receiver in the future, but for now, get the M80's and blast away. if it sounds as if it is lacking to you, then start budgeting for a new receiver.

i know people on this board have been getting the 2802 and 2803's for around $350-$450 bucks from online retailers..look around, you might find a good deal.

K, you are in luck. ecost is an authorized Denon etailer and they provide refurb / B-stock equipment. Search "ecost" here on the board and you will find many happy folks getting great deals from ecost.

Take a look here . They have the 3803 available at $529. At that price, you are committing Grand Theft Receiver. I have one and it is an absolute beast (I moved up from an 1803 which I also loved). They also have the 2803 for $459, another excellent choice. However, for the extra $70, the 3803 is an absolute no-brainer.

Don't dawdle - these won't last long.

BTW - I'm just a happy customer. I got a DVM-4800 5 disc CD/DVD player (MSRP $1199) last November for $319 and I'm thrilled with it.
