you might this idea off the wall, but I was thinking about putting a small pair of Axioms in my bathroom. Would the excess humidity created by showers ruin the speakers, or is this a safe idea?

I'm not sure if I should say "sounds wet to me" or simply ask you how much time you really spend in there?

oh yes, that was a purely rhetorical question

ravi,

If you are spending so much time in the bath that you are considering putting speakers in there, then I would ask one question: What the HELL are you doing in there?

If your question is really serious.... in reality, if you don't put the speakers directly in/over the shower, (and you turn on the exhaust fan), then there shouldn't be too much of a problem.

BTW - Are you afraid the titanium tweeters or aluminum woofers will rust/corrode?

Maybe you should eat more fiber.

Ha!
that's hilarious!!

that's not the reason why I'm in there!
they wouldn't be permanent, either, it would just be...

okay, you know what? forget about WHY they are in there, all I want to know is if it can damage the speaker!!!!
Could the metal drivers actually rust or corrode?

Hi Ravi,

Let's hear it for fibre! Seriously, the speakers should be okay, because the woofers don't use paper cones, and the tweeters don't use cloth or silk domes (wouldn't want a tweeter with a soggy dome!). A friend of mine in Toronto left a pair of medium-size speakers permanently on his back deck for yard parties. The speakers went through snow, rain, the full effects of seasonal changes. Over time, the wood veneer peeled off, yet the speakers continued to sound fine. I don't recommend it but it amazed me how resilient these speakers were to the long-term effects of brutal weather. I think the woofer cones were doped paper.

I have also thought of speakers on my deck for parties, but that would also be temporary.

If you say it's ok, I just might try it!
I'll let you know what M3's sound like while bathing!

This thread is out of control

Ravi, if you are truly nervous of wetting your Axioms...ahem...you may want to consider this neat little company for bathrooms or more appropriately, outside decks:

Rockustic outdoor speakers

Chess,

but then I'd have to buy more stuff. I'm trying to control my audio spending, however I also feel like buiding a monster sub with an Adire 15" driver.

I might one day put the M3's in there temporarily, but logic tells me water and electronics don't mix!
