Is it a bad idea to plug the sub woofer (Axiom 350) into the A/C outlet on the back of my Denon 3805?

I wouldn't the draw from the sub might be a bit to much for the outlet on the back of the reciever.I generally don't use such an outlet but you could use it for a cd/dvd player,or something with a low current draw.The owners manual should say what the limit is.

I beleive they make some power strips that will sense if a component that is plugged into a special outlet on the strip is on or not. Thus it will turn the rest of the strip on and off with that component. I haven't really looked for one lately, but that might be what ya want.

The sub should have an auto senser on its own.Having a power strip to do the same thing really wouldn't make much sense,would it?

As the others have pointed out its not a good idea to run something like that through that type of connection. It should say what the wattage is for that outlet on the back of the reciever. The only thing i have plugged into the back of my NAD's power outlets is my tuner which draws only 20 watts or something. I believe its only rated for 100w.

My Denon PMA-915R integrated amp has both switched and unswitched AC outlets. The switched outlets are rated 240W, but I have no problem running 450W of lighting through them; it's so much easier to turn on the amp and have the lights come on at the same time. The rating is in your owners manual. Burn baby burn!

BTW, I've come across an old JVC integrated amplifier with AC line conditioning through their AC switches. Maybe your Denon might have it also (mine doesn't).
