That has to be the worst attempt at a flame I have ever seen. I don't even detect the faint whiff of a spark.

"You killed it, bitch!", as the kids would say.

I'm drinking an MGD right now (sorry, Tom). I KNOW beer. While I haven't made one in a couple years, I reckon I've made over 100 batches, and I have read obsessively about beer and zymurgy.
But cheap swill is what a guy needs after a day of manual labor. I drank the first 2 bottles in like 5 minutes. Not going to waste good beer for rehydration purposes.
The MGD bottle says, "...hand-selected hops and choice rosted malts for smooth distinctive character." I guess the hops were in fact picked off the vine by some guy, but roasted malts? Smooth distinctive flavor? C'mon it tastes like water.
I really enjoy this forum, BTW. Alpha303 can take his Polks or Rockets or NHTs and stick them up his a$$.

BigWill is ALWAYS 2 beers ahead of me. Beeyatch, indeed.

I KNOW you KNOW beer!! That's part of what is so mystifying! It's not really that I'm a snob, honest. I drank a MGD at the bowling alley the other day; it was cold and wet and I really kind of liked it. But I don't usually *enjoy* those beers, and I'm trying to stay only ten pounds overweight instead of 20 or more. So, I only drink it if I really like it.

If I HAD been drinking a beer while reading your post, I'm pretty sure it would have gone shooting out my nose, regardless of its country of origin.

Alpha...sorry you didn't get the responses you wanted. I don't know how long you've been reading the boards around here but you should definately know that NO THREAD IS SAFE from the a good hi-jack. Also, the Rocket's looks vs. sound has been discussed SEVERAL times around here so you're not likely to get anything new. (Search is your friend) Finally, if you don't like the folks around here (and they're crazy sense of humor) then find another message board to troll.

Now onto the greater topic at hand. BEER!! I know this should have been posted elsewhere, but I want to drive alpha further into insanity. Tom and James..it's great to see others who truly appreciate "The Belgian". By far some of the best brews in the world. Anyway, I tried a couple new brews this week.

#1 McEwans Scotch Ale (since you guys were talking scotch)
I had seen this one around but just never thought to try it. I was really impressed. It has a great dark brown color and it's full of flavor. A touch on the sweet side which gives it almost a Belgian character. The alcohol is 8% but it's not at all overpowering. Will have to remember this one when winter gets here.

#2 Rogue Dead Guy
I've not had many of the Western hoppy brews so I decided to give this one a shot. WOW!! I think that I found myself a great summer brew. The hops were full but not over the edge. Really a great balance. The best thing is that Dead Guy's not very expensive. I'll have to pick some more up the next time I'm doing pizza. YUM!!

Oh and by the way, some of us DO help run an automotive industry in North America. The computers at least.

I seem to have misplaced my conscience - and the scale tops out at 300 so I'm good.

Wow, I make on offhand comment and you guys take hijacking to a whole new level! Excellent! Along the way we even managed to ruin the poor guy that started the thread. Though I must admit that the flame he threw disappeared like a fart in a tornado. I feel bad that we didn't provide more help.

Having said that (and having recovered from it ), I recently received a bottle of 14 year old Oban as a gift. Unfortunately, I am with bigjohn where scotch is concerned. A fine remover of rust. Can't warm up to it at all. In any event, I have a friend who owns a liquor store and he has agreed to exchange the Oban for a bourbon. I would really like to try the Black Maple Hill, but I don't know if he carries it.

Let the hijack continue!

Tom guilted me into uncorking some Affligem Belgian Dubbel. It was OK - like MGD with a little Hershey's syrup in it.

Dammit, now I need a beer and all I've got is Gordon Biersch, which I'll gladly take over MGD.
