Hi freesy,

A 12-volt trigger is a low-voltage circuit that sends a signal from, say, a preamp, to remotely turn on a power amp that you keep tucked away out of sight. Triggers can be used to acitvate other A/V gear in other rooms, or, for example, turn on a motor that would lower a projection screen from the ceiling for your video projector.
