I'm actually ready to configure my system for 7.1. I have everything ready go (except for loads of available media).
I've heard nothing but great stuff regarding the M22's however I have yet to see anything about the M40's. It would cost about the same after I purchased the stands for the M22's

What is everyone’s opinion here? Are there major differences between the two? Current setup consists of M80’s, VP150 and QS8’s. I’m also worried about the best match possible between my existing speakers.

If I did go with the M22’s how are the Axiom stands? I would need something sturdy with two girls and three hounds.

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,
You might have a hard time getting some responses on this one. I don't think to many people have the M40's. I have the 50's and had the 22's at the same time and it's well documented that I liked the 50's more. Better bass, neutral not in your face etc etc. The 22's however are more accurate and are brighter..............I hate that word but I can never think of anything better. I also have a set of the SS16 stands if you need them. Mint shape I just don't need them anymore.

Thanks for your info. I think everyone here describes the M22's the way you did. I personally would have a hard time to describe it any other way.

PM me on the stands…

Tom

Hello tleigh,

Hope you are well. I would recommend the M22s, I believe they will tonally match the other speakers in your setup better than the M40Ti.

The vocal range from 200Hz on up is being produced by those two 5.25" drivers in your M80's, the three in the VP150 and the two in the QS8s. The M40Ti uses the 6.5" driver for vocals and bass, so will sound much different in this region then your other speakers. The two 5.25" drivers in the M22 should match much better in this critical region.

Later,

TonyM

Thank you. The M22's seem like the choice here.
Just looking for opinions to back up my gut feeling.

I think it's funny how every few months or so someone pops up with a thread like this, and we all (metaphorically) look at each other, scratch our heads and say, "I dunno..."

Maybe someone should take the plunge and do a comparison of the M40 and the M22s!

I found it! After nearly a year of research, countless late nights, and many returns to the drawing board, I have finally found a word that better describes M22s than 'bright':

spry

I'm not so sure, Peter...

Whenever I hear "spry", the first thing that comes to mind is a 100 year old guy who can still tie his own shoes.
