About TIME!

I am looking at wally world on-line and find: Star Wars Trilogy DVDs

they come out in September.

You know what sucks? after the the new 3rd true episode III

there is sure to be 6 disc set of all of them.

But III won't come out until next year...meaning a set won't be availabe until- ???

I have been waiting so long to watch Empire Strikes back on DVD !!!!!!

BTW--- your favorite and worst episodes?

FAV: EMPIRE
WORST: Phantom

Actually, Lucas stated in an online chat session that the DVD releases for both the new trilogy and the original will be the final versions.

Though they may come packaged together in a 6-disc set, the content of the discs *should* be the same.

He said that substantial work was put into these releases, finishing off uncompleted scenes, going through endless hours of behinds the scenes footage, special effects tests, etc. He said he practically felt like it was another round of post-porduction! So apparently they will be the definitive versions. I suppose only time will tell.

I have DVD-R's of the LaserDisc version, simply because they are the originals...and not the Special Editions.

He always says stuff like that, to get people to buy it. The VHS ones before the gold/silver boxes was the last one (of the original!) If he can still make money off of it, he will.

There are going to be significant changes....

Special effect scenes are going to be different. Hayden Christiansen will appear in Rerturn of the Jedi. They've changed the emporer from ESB to Ian McDiarmid (originally, the emporer was played by a woman in a mask - "monkey eyes", they called her). There will be some insert shots at the end of ROTJ to include Naboo. They redid the Jabba sequence from ANH, to fix the CG Jabba. Also, all of the lightsaber effects have been redone to make them cleaner, crisper. Also, the Rankor scenes from ROTJ have been fixed to remove the matte lines. Greedo still shoots first, but the effects have been cleaned up, and now both of them shoot at approximately the same time.

Tons of visual changes. Go here to find out all of the details.

actually it sounds sweet

As long as the new stuff adds and doesn't hurt what many of us grew up to.

man was it really that long ago? was it 1977 ?

There is a SW thread in Questions I believe that has how some of us *feel* about things in the world of the Jedi.

I might be mistaken, but I think almost all of what you said is just rumours that exist entirely on messageboards, and have not been confirmed by any reliable sources. I also remember reading that they were going to insert Jar-Jar into one of the originals, etc...
Not trying to be catty, I'm just pretty sure these are internet rumours.

JAr JAr binks is the lames thing Star Wars ha since the muppets in Jedi

THey could liminate all of it and make the movies perhaps 10 times better

IMO thats why I couldn't stand Phantom Menace-- too kiddy

Then CLones seemed to be quite a bit better- to me any way

The first ones had lots of kiddy stuff too, and that's part of why you loved them...you're just older now. Look at the Ewoks for example.

It's not to kiddy, it's just you're to old and grumpy and don't have a inner child anymore because you killed it.

Unlike the 70's, movies are now for all ages, especially the younger age groups, and since star wars has come out with many toys and such, they need to develop the movies in relation to said market
