I found a couple less than stellar axiom speaker reviews. I wanted to throw them up on the board for people to comment on - since I think it is safe to say that most of the Axiom speaker line is top notch (easily in the top five of each price range). Maybe a few pieces don't quite measure up but a lot of them get product of the year honors from reveiw sites.

Maybe this is old news, but I found it interesting.

--------------------

First is a non-scientific but still significant comparison of the Swan Diva 2.1 bookshelf, the nOrh 4.0 and the Axiom M3ti.

Why they compared two $400 a pair speakers to the Axiom $275 pair is a question. All they had on hand? Why didn't they bring in the M22? As it is the Axiom placed third out of six in this shootout.

-------------

Second is the CNET review of the Axiom Epic Master home theater speaker system.

CNET doesn't seem to match most of the other reviewers that one can find by searching on sites like ecoustics.com. I think they try to review so much stuff - from computers to cameras - that they don't take their time?

I would be interested to hear responses.

I used to have cheap home theater book marked but since they haven't updated their site since March 2003, I gave up on them. Many sites provide competent reviews - cheap home theater wasn't one of them. Some sites make their money from manufacturers in return for good reviews - Audio Revolution, characterizes its reviews as "advertorials" - I'm sure they're not the only ones who do. I don't know whether CHT failed to hustle Axiom and dinged them with a bad review or whether their reviewer simply suffered from a tin ear.

In any case, there are certain reviewers who do an excellent job - Soundstage, Enjoy the Music, Good Sound, Secrets of Home Theater, AVguide, The Absolute Sound, Stereophile ... CHT was never one of the good ones, and in any case, is no more.

I thought they seemed to like the M3. Not as much as the Swan whatever, but that seemed like a pretty positive review.
CNET seemed more concerned with placement issues than sound quality. And exaggerated any timbre mismatching, IMO.

I will have to read them again with your take on it in mind. Thanks
