Got my 22s/150/8s late last week, and the 3805 this week. Still waiting on the TV (damn you shopsunshine!), but I'm in the process of placing, mounting, running wire, and infuriating my wife with talk of acoustics (not neccesarily in that order...)

First things first - I have the 22s and 150 set up with my stf-2. They sound great together, but I have only been able to play some music since I have no TV yet. So far very happy.

The problem comes with qs8 placement. I've got one above and slightly behind the couch, but the other will either have to go above and in front of the listening position (parallel to the other and at approx the same height) or above and almost on line (perpendicular to the other 8 and "facing" the TV.

tough question, thanks for the help.

i am just gonna take a stab here and say go with the parallel, slightly in front. with the quad polar design, it wont be very noticable, if hardly at all.. i think you should definitely have the QS8's 'facing' into each other, toward the listening position, so the facing the TV scenario seems very bad.

thats my 2 cents worth.

sounds like a good set-up.. be sure and post some pics when you are up and running.

Thanks for the quick response.
I'm pretty psyched about the setup... pio 4340hd in the middle will make this all work very nicely i think.

Though I agree with John, reading Alan's post (particularly the 2nd paragraph), at the bottom of page 1 of this thread might ease your mind.

Pete, with a 5.1 setup without back surround speakers it's generally slightly better to position both the side surrounds slightly behind the listening position to give a little more "back" effect. As Alan points out, however, slight variations will make little or no audible difference.

My QS8s are mounted approximately 10" forward of the listening position, and about 24" higher than the LP.

Somehow or another, they STILL manage to do an extremely convincing job of making sounds appear to come from behind you. I swear, they are magic.
