I'm looking to ceiling mount my M2i's in my new 7.1 setup. I've got two FMB's but they don't appear to be suited for ceiling mounting. I purchased two Omnimount 20.5CA ceiling mounts...they're built for the job but the speaker/mount interface is too large for the real estate on the back of the M2i.

Any suggestions on a proven ceiling mount for the M2i?

Thanks!

When you say "they don't appear to be suited for ceiling mounting," are you speaking of the FMBs, or the M2s? If you'll check the photos at the bottom of of Page 1 in this thread, you'll see that Daphoid had no problem ceiling mounting his QS8s with the FMBs. He has them attached to a joist just above the drop ceiling. What specific problem are you having when trying to ceiling mount the M2s with the FMB?

Sorry that I wasn't clear.

Considering the height of the M2i's (and the positioning of the rear mounting screw) I don't think the FMB could be used to ceiling mount the M2i in a near vertical (upright) position. It might be possible to rotate the M2i 90 degrees and utilize the FMB to mount the speaker in a 'horizontal' position but I'd rather not go that route.

Although I haven't tried the QS8 with the FMB its shorter height would probably make the difference when ceiling mounting.

Hope I was a little clearer. So, I'm left looking for pictures/info regarding succesful M2i ceiling mounted installations.

Well, I'm at a loss. If you have exhausted all possibilities here and here, then I recommend you give the folks at Axiom a call and ask their advice. You'll find them very friendly and eager to help.

Sorry, I couldn't.

Thanks...I don't think I've exhausted all possibilities but I am collecting a fair number of speaker mounts at home and I thought that before I buy one more POSSIBILITY I'd give the experienced folks here a try.

I'll keep plugging....thanks for the reply.

Good Thinking! One way or the other, we've all been there; done that. Do call Axiom. They might be able to help you utilize what you already have thus preventing another addition to your mounting mount collection. They tend to know what they're doing.

Hi,

I may have spoken to you already on the phone. Try the Omnimount Series 10 ceiling mount, if the FMB won't work for you. I understand from Jason (?) who had a thread somewhere that the screw on the Series 10 does fit the nut on the rear of the M2i, QS8 and others. Don't worry about the 10-lb. weight limit.
