I am currently looking to upgrade my receiver, which I use mainly for home theater. I have heard very good reviews of the Arcam AVR300. Does anyone have any experience with this receiver, and what are its drawbacks, if any. Arcam seems to have a very good name when it comes to a 2-channel music receiver, but is it the right choice for a home theater receiver. Any input would be much appreciated.

Doug, welcome. I don't have personal experience with the 300 and nobody else here might have that info. My impression is that, considering its features, it's significantly overpriced. For about half the money I'd suggest that you consider the Denon 3805, Pioneer 54TX or Yamaha 2400.
