Hello all,
I'm sorry for long post!!!
I got Epic 80 home theater system, and My RX-V 2200 6.1 100 watt rms per channel Yamaha receiver.
the receiver is not able to handle the M80 at my listening level, it shut it self off.
I love all Axiom's speakers.
My room is 14 x 36 x 8 ft.
I think that I need to buy amplifier to run the Epic 80 and keep my Yama Receiver use for pre amp, because it had the pre out for each channels
Here are amplifiers I have in mine:
B. Outlaw power amp.
Model 770 7-channel Amplifier
With SEVEN 200-watt channels, Audiophile quality at a low $1,799 price.
http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/770.html#
Power output: 200 watts RMS x 7 (all channels driven simultaneously into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with less than 0.05% total harmonic distortion). 300 watts RMS x 7 @ 4 ohms
B. Rotel's RMB-1095 Rated at 200 watts per channel (all 5 channels) $1,999
http://www.rotel.com/products/specs/rmb1095.htm
Continuous Power Output (20-20 kHz, <0.03%) 5x200 watts /ch / 8 ohms
DIN Power Output (1 kHz, 1%) 5x330 watts /ch / 4 ohms
Question: which one is good marching with the Epic 80. or it will over kill for M80???
Welcome for any comment or suggestions.
Thank you for any help in advance.

200 watts per channel is way more than you need.
If I were you I'd get the Rotel RMB-1075. It'll power your M80's to ear bleeding levels, and save you some coin. Beyond that...the Rotel amps look WAY better than those butt ugly Outlaw amps.
If you're open to buying used (which in the case of amps is generally a pretty safe bet) check out Audiogon.com, some nice Rotel amps show up there quite often.
I bought my 1075 used and have been thrilled.

Audiogon is basically just a website of classified ads. They're primarily private sellers, not dealers. I'm sure many of them will ship to Canada.
I paid about $825 for mine.
You won't miss that one extra channel in the rear. I had my system setup with 7.1 (I bought an additional amp) and was never really impressed. I ended up selling the extra amp, and putting my M2i's upstairs on my computer.
I'm always looking for the best possible sound for the least possible money. If I were you, I'd give the RMB-1075 a shot, with 5.1. If you really think you miss that extra channel in the rear, you could always pickup a RB-1070 (or even RB-1050), and power that last channel. It'd still cost you less than buying one of those 200 watt monsters.
Just my two cents. (ok...maybe 5 cents.)

lac, try www.canuckaudiomart.com. Most of the sellers are in canada.
For example, this Rotel is available. You may be able to negotiate the price down a bit.

The Rotel 1095 goes for $2000, but I got 15% off at my dealer so I paid $1700. I run a 7.1 system and use a 2 channel Rotel RB-1050 for my two center back speakers. I think the RB-1050 cost me $330. The 2 channel amp is 70w per channel and that's plenty for what's in the two center back speakers(there's really not all that much going on in the center backs that requies a lot of power).

Can't he just get the five channel Rotel and use his reciever to power the last channel? Or why not just just get a powerful two channel amp and let the reciever push the surround spekers? The M80's are the problem not the surround speakers. I'd love to try some Outlaw M200's.

Yep, getting the five channel and letting the receiver power the center backs would work out perfect. I wish I could help lac choose between Rotel and Outlaw, but I a Rotel fan so I'm biased.

That's actually a great idea. Use the RMB-1075 to power the the 5.1 and use the Yammy to power that sixth channel.

Spiff,
The Rotel RMB-1075 is 200 watts per chanel @ 4 ohms.I run M80's off a RB1080 and think the match is quite good.If the 80's are the ones giving the Yamaha trouble why not just a good 2 channel amp for the mains.
The RB1070 should do the trick.

You might want to take a look at this very long string. Lots of folks are running Crown Pro amps. You can pick them up pretty cheap (200-300) and they pump out serious power. This thread has tons of info on them.
I'm contemplating buying one.

Not correct. The RMB-1075 is 120 watts/channel. It's the big RMB-10 95 that's 200 watts.
Your point is still valid though. He could get a nice two channel amp to power just the M80's, and use the Yammy for all the remaining channels. My thinking was that for a fairly minimal increase in outlay he could have the RMB-1075 and have the nice Rotel powering all but that one rear channel.

This says DIN Power Output
(1 kHz, 1%) 5x200 watts /ch / 4 ohms. This is from the Rotel website.

My bad...I was not taking the 4 ohms into consideration.
In my system it's "only" 120.
In either case I still say get the RMB-1075 and let the Yammy power that sixth channel.

He should be able to find a 1075 for $800 or less. A RB-1070 will cost upwards of $550/600. So yeah, I guess it's another $200+, but it's also a lot more amp.

mdrew,
Which line are your referring to? I see the XLS 402 retails for $519. That seems like a steal if it is pumping out that much power.

This is true if the price difference is only $200.I saw a RB1070 go for only $350 on ebay not to long ago.

I bought my 1070, my 1075 and my 1066 processor all used and haven't had a single issue with any of them.
I've been begging Rotel (via the Club Rotel board) to make a uni-player, and rumour has it, they're finally working on one. Hopefully next year I'll have a nice big new TV and a killer Rotel uni-player.

Even though I had a problem with the first amp,Rotel did replace it with a new one no questions asked.Since I have had the second one I have had no problems with it what so ever.I am completly satisfied with it and at 300@4ohm it sure can make the M80's sing .

Player8,
Did you read the thread? There are many folks buying these things off Ebay for under $300. They also mention Ebay power sellers that you can by direct from. The thread goes on and on, but worth reading.
I have absolutely no personal experience with pro-amps, but from reading that thread, I'm very interested. They seem to good to be true. At audioholics, the question was asked "why don't people use pro-amps for home use" and the predominant answer was that audio snobs just don't like them. They aren't pretty enough. But from sound quality and power, they do every bit as good as main line home systems.
One noticeable con is that they have fans and the fans can be heard at low volumes. Not that big a deal to me.

Yes, I glanced at the thread but I go by MSRP's so that I can gauge them pricewises against other amps. I went to their site and the XLS series seemed to be the best bang for the buck. I assume in the aftermarket, the XLS series will be the best bang for the buck amp made by Crown.

WOW!!! after looking at those Crowns, I think I found a great money saving solution for a stereo setup. Thanks for the link on that one. My only concern is their THD is tad higher (.15) as opposed to home amps (around .05%). Most likely, it wouldn't make much or a difference though. At least I don't think that it would. *shrugs* It's like paying $1 per watt @ 8 Ohms. That's some serious bang for the buck.

Ther's a feller on the Audioholic's board that is running the XLS 402 with his Axiom M80's. he was quite estatic about it, and said that 400 watts @ 4 ohms really makes them sing.

Thank you every one for the greatest advices.
I try to get clear here, seems that lot of people don't like Outlaw 770 amp. I just want to compare the two, Rotel 1095 5 channels amp it great too but the prices is to high, and also its only 5 channels at 200 wpc rms, I think Outlaw's amp 7 channels at 200 wpc rms and its cost let than the rotel.
One thing that make me worry is the Outlaw amp it made from Taiwan. not from USA.
How do you guys think about this two???
Thanks again for all your help!!!!

lac,
I actually own an Outlaw 755. It's made in the USA and on the same assembly line that ATI amplifiers are. This amp is very musical for the lack of a better term. I believe the M200's are made in Taiwan, which I also own. Outlaw has the same quality customer service as Axiom.
Most of the people here have other brands so they really don't know the product well enough to comment on it.
My only complaint is the green light and logo. They also weigh a ton. I don't think that you would be unhappy with the build quality and sound, this amp rivals some of the amps in 3K to 4K ranges.
Just think Outlaw will be coming out with the 790 soon, it will provide 300 watts a channel @ 8 Ohms.
Give Outlaw a call for yourself. Ask them some of your questions and test drive their customer service. I think you will be impressed.

I have two Outlaw monoblocks driving my M60s and I like them. I have had NAD but at lower 'wattage'. I like those Outlaws better than NAD. That is the extent of my experience.
I'm not sure what the issue with is them being manufactured in Taiwan? The amps are designed in the US and profits kept in the US. This may not be in the direction of what you are asking but if an amp can be assembled for $100 cheaper per unit in Taiwan than in the US, where does that $100 go? Then again, your question may have to do with comparing UK products vs Asian products given the UK's fine reputation for audioelectronics.
All the glowing comments about Rotel are intruiguing however. I may want to try them someday. : )

You might see if you can find a Marantz MM9000 online somewhere. I have one and I love it. I have M60's, but I have no doubts that the unit could power M80's. It is rated at 170 watts x 5 channels at 8 ohms. You could use your receiver to power the other 1 or 2 channels in your system (as I do). I found mine for under $700

I have the Outlaw 950/755 combo and I'm using it to drive the Rocket 750 as my mains and polk audio center and surround. The Rocket 750 is a 6 ohm speakers not as hard to drive as the M80 4 ohm. The 770 will probably have no problem driving the M80 just like the Rotels. The 755 is basically the same as the 770 except for less two amps and weight a little less, I think 95lbs. Anyway, I don't know exactly where or what country it is assembled or made from, all I know is it sounds good to me for the money I paid for. The best thing is for you to do an audition. Good Luck!!!

Whats up Rick,
No new toys here. The only things I bought this year has been a Outlaw Icbm and a second Hsu Vtf-2.Both have been a nice improvment on my system. The stereo is to the point that I am pretty satisfied with it.I don't know what else I could get.Given some time I'll think of something though.
Glad to see you are enjoying all your new stuff.Nothing beats some good equipment and excellent speakers.I hear ya on the wife, after spending so much last year I had to keep it cool this year.
Don't be a stranger,I have always liked typing at ya

Hi Guys,
Thank you everyone for your time, your valuable advices and great help!!!
))
One more question. I'd like all your help!!!
I'm now committed myself to go right ahead and buy Outlaw 770 7 channels @ 200WPC rms.
I'm in Calgary, Alberta Canada. I don't know If anyone on this message board did buy any product from Outlaw and ship to Canada.
I phone Canada customs and they told me that I don't pay duty for product made in the USA. with one condition that Outlaw needed to provide to them a (North American Free Trade Agreement) Certificate of Origin.
I contacted Outlaw and they told me that they can't provide to me that Certificate.
I'm really interesting to buy Outlaw amplifier, but it worried me that Canada customs will charge me a fortune.
I would like to ask anyone who has done this in the pass can share with me!!!
Thank you for your help in advance!!!!

Check out the following thread. You need to contact Jeff Mackwood. He seems to know how to cut the price down of all the duties, brokerage and so forth.. Good luck
