If you look at Hsu or SVS, you do not have to spend $1000 to do better than the CHT-10. Both companys' least expensive models will outperform it.

I have the SVS PC-Ultra. I like the fact it's the only sub I have ever owned (I have had a few) that does music as well as it does HT. I have had my Ultra since January and to me at least it has only one flaw, it's size. Dam thing is huge!................but worth every penny!

Hiya Bray,

I fairly recently got a SVS PB1-ISD. I am completely satisfied. My room is ~14x26 with sloped cathedral ceilings to 18', and opening to a very large, full-height foyer/stair area (10x14x18?). I do not yearn for more sub in any way, and find the HT depth and musicality to be grin-inducing. Service was top-notch, as is the fit and finish. I had several prompt, candid and helpful email exchanges with the folks at SVS; the personal advice I received helped my decision-making and overall satisfaction.

I'd have bought an Axiom sub if they made a down-firing model. Besides the testimonials, a large contributing factor in my choice of SVS over Hsu was my ongoing desire to support American jobs whereever possible.

I bought a PB1-Plus a month or so ago. It shakes the house. anything that's sitting on it when I'm watching a movie finds its way to the floor. My main area is ~15x15 with a ceiling that slopes up, over a staircase, to a loft. I went with this model partly for aesthetics - the finish is beautiful. Also, the botttom-firing driver doesn't become a cat toy. Interestingly enough, the boys haven't messed with the grilles of my M60s...yet. They trashed the grilles of my old speaks. I think they were trying to tell me to upgrade I second Tom's sentiment about buying from a company that manufactures in America. HSU was the other brand I considered.

I third that stuff about buying from the US. I look at Canada first which is why I looked hard at the Paradigm but after that I had to look south and thus SVS. Does it seem odd that a Canadian took that into consideration? :-) It's to bad we can't buy it all from North American folks.

OK, the room I would be putting this in is 20x16 with my mains on the long wall. The room also has a vaulted ceiling and behind the listening area there is a 9 foot (tall) wall that doesnt go all the way to the ceiling and seperates another 6 foot of kitchen. (very hard to describe the room) The 9 foot wall also has a 10 foot "break" in it to open up into the dining room (10 feet further back).
Which svs would you recomend?
BTW, I would say the room is very "soft".

Hiya Bray. I've got a 20-39 PCi in a 16x22 room w/ 10 ft. ceilings. It opens to a 14 x20 kitchen. I've got more than enough sub left over. The gain is at about 40%.

Having said that, I'd suggest you call the good folks at SVS. They are as terrific as the Axiom crew and will help you pick the right sub. Interestingly, they sold me a PCi rather than the Plus I had in mind and saved me some money. I like their approach of selling what's correct, not what the traffic will bear.
