I just got my new M80's, QS8's,VP150 and a SVS sub ...it all sounds great! Heres the problem, two new NAD T773 receivers have given up the ghost in about 2 days of use. The sound just quits and "DISC" appears in the display. I got the NAD because its supposed to have no problems handling 4ohm speakers. Has anyone else had a similar problem? The receiver was not hot and was not cranked when this occured. It just seems odd the same problem with two diferent new receivers?
thanks for any input

I would take one to a repair center that will cover the NAD warranty and find out what is going on. NAD can handle 4ohms wihout a problem.

Just long shot here... Double-check all of your speaker wire connections. One loose speaker wire strand touching negative or positive will cause major problems like the one you are seeing. It's not hard to do we all have done it one time or another.

I would also try just one speaker at a time to see if the problem is associated with a particular speaker.

I find it hard to believe that two NAD receivers would have identical problems.

Are the receivers totally dead after two days?

After reading the manual, I'm at a loss now. I have no idea why this would occur.

I would give NAD a call. There might be a quick fix or a known bug.

I'm with you. Might be a connection issue. What would be nice is to hear what exactly keeps going on it. If it was the same thing in both, the problem more then likely lies with the install..............I would think but who knows for sure.

No they did not! An 88 round from the movie "Saving Private Ryan" took out the optic cable...DOH! New cable problem solved. Have to turn that volume down.

Hmmm.. did the slug actually pass THROUGH the TOSlink cable? If not, then you've harshly bent the cable to break it. The amount of power it would take for a red LED (which is what blinks through the fibreoptic cable) to burn through the cable would leave you with a radiation burn and a charred mark on your wall. Have you been hooking up your receiver to high-tension lines again?!?

The optical cable was not broken in. That is clearly the problem...lol :-)...and by connection issue, I think we all meant with the speakers.

It sounds like Rad actually believes ("gotta turn that volume down") that the massive amounts of pure raw audio power he was pushing through damaged the cable.

I'm hoping that was tongue-in-cheek... lord, do I hope!

Who would've thought that a tos link was coming loose???
I would have never guessed it and think it’s funny.
Probably a cheapo cable...

No, not a cheapo cable, Monster actually, And I was just being adding a little levity and tongue in cheek to my stupidity with the 88 round. The real problem was trying to cram the rack into its opening in the wall (tight fit) I must have inadvertently pulled the optic loose but not completely out of its connection. The concussion from the SVS sub during the landing at Normandy must of did the rest of the optic removal...well I like to think so!.BUT! the first NAD was broken, so when this happened so soon after the first I just jumped to conclusions again. Have to stop doing that.
