New:Onkyo DV-SP502 Universal SACD/DVD-Audio Player

DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD Decoding
We’re talking about the formats for the future: Super Audio CD (with a frequency
response up to 100 kHz and a sampling rate of 2.2822 MHz), which represents
advances in audio reproduction and 5.1 uncompressed multi-channel surround
sound. And DVD-Audio (with a pulse code modulation [PCM] that can be recorded
with a range of frequencies four times greater than that of a normal CD), which
produces both stereo and true multi-channel sound as well as video and limited
interactive capabilities that the commonly used CD format can’t get near.

Color-Coded 5.1-Multichannel Audio Output
To fully appreciate the brilliance of DVD-Audio, the DV-SP502’s 5.1-multichannel
audio output is mandatory. Some DVD-Audio discs will not output at all through
digital outputs and multi-channel discs are down-mixed to stereo for output. And
for DVD-Audio discs with a high-sampling rate (higher than 96 kHz), audio output
is down-sampled if digitally output. Super Audio CD is only available through
analog outputs. Also, to simplify connection with A/V receivers, the DV-SP502’s
5.1-channel outputs are color-coded.

PAL and NTSC Progressive Scan
PAL and NTSC Progressive Scan produce video in complete frames, which means
that your compatible displays such as HDTV, plasma or digital TV and projectors
are capable of amazingly clear, flicker-free images, no motion artifacts and
incredibly sharp detail. And even if your display is not progressive, you’ll still get
interlaced scan—a relatively superior image.

108 MHz/12-Bit Video D/A and 192 kHz/24-Bit Audio D/A Conversion
To ensure only the highest quality in digital playback, leading-edge digital-to-analog
conversion is essential. The 108 MHz/12-bit video D/A converter used in the
DV-SP502 can process delicate, low-level video signals and produce vivid, detailed
images, and the 192 kHz/24-bit audio D/A converter ensures the smoothness
and warmness as well as clarity and definition of audio output are heightened.
